Cornish.... i quoted 'you' and referred to 'you' because i was emphasising a point that you were clearly having a go at me for pointing the blinkin obvious out to your mate....YOUR the one who needs to back up and take a long hard look at yourself.

SOME being the operative word, he is aiming for a smaller market by leaving the mods on....... argue all you want, to suggest otherwise would just show you as an argumentative fool as you would be suggesting that modified cars are more appealing than standard cars.

you'd have a better chance convincing us the world is square, although i honestly think you will try so good luck

Pistonheads can be a bit iffy, however i have sold most of my previous motors through there.
I'd def recommend Autotrader, but probably best leave it until the new year...

Seems that prices on the 'trader.co.uk are higher, so you 'should' get more interest. Cheapest one near me is £7,300!

Pistonheads is nice becuase it's free though :yahoo:

Mark, it's good spec, but I would agree to replace stock airbox and sell your BMC seperately. The BMCs do well on ebay, but there is some "bad press" about them on s3s so it may put a few off.
The price you have is unrelaistic, I am afraid, that is your main problem. Forget the spec, that will seal a deal when you get people interested, but in the current market, you have the think carefully about price. Car is about 7-8 years old now? Car probably cost about £17k new.... A typical car in normal climate will depreciate about 50% in 3 years......obviously they will slow down depreciation after that..
If you want to sell it, you need to have it advertised at about £6250 I am afraid, if you wont take that for it, then keep it and use it. But at 100k plus, they do start to drop in value rapidly I am afraid.
You also have to look at what you are up agaisnt at that price, there is some seriously cheap metal out there now for 7k! And my mate was offered a brand new civic type R for £13550 at a dealer last week and a brand new clio 197 for £11495!...... Such factors will inevitably hit the 2nd hand hot hatch market.
If you have the original parts, going back to stock will always be more lucrative, parts will sell seperatley and originla car will shift for very similar money.

I know a guy who is selling a 53 plate, 60k miles, same spec as yours with sunroof, with 7k of IHI turbo, 1k of brembos and 1.5k of bilsteins on it for 10k this week, and he reckons he has doen pretty well to get that!
Good luck with your sale, it looks like a very well kept example and is a nice spec. But prepare for a fright if you really do want it gone! :)

Thanks for your wise words smich. I am fully aware that i may struggle to get the asking price, but its just out there as a feeler. Currently im not prepared to drop that low as it would mean i no longer have the budget to get the new car.

If i manage to sell it then i've been lucky, if not then its no biggy, i still have an awesome car for the time being!

good thing is though if you do take the reduced amount, the car that you will be buying will have dropped too.

end of day the price is never going to increase....

Ye, you have to way up the reduction in resale value of your own to the amount the car you want to buy has dropped.

The more expensive the car, the bigger loss will have been made..

thing is Ian (and im not saying this is the case here)....you find people who want to take advantage of the new prices dropping sharply but dont actually acknowledge that their car has also dropped...... it happens more often than not id say...

like i said though, not tieing you or Mark with that brush

I was selling mine for the money lol, not to upgrade, thats why it hit me hard :(

Not bothered now, at least now its worth buttons I don't feel bad about servicing it myself and what not so im going to be saving there as apposed to be forking out for a stamp in the book
