So, Im sat in rush hr traffic (in a contraflow) and this happened.

    -car beeps
-brake warning light fills the DIS
    -car cuts out.

No brakes, no steering so luckily I wasnt travelling at speed!

The car starts after 10secs, then above happens again after another minute or so.

Managed to limp out of the contraflow into a bus stop, called the dealers (which was 2 mile away) and a Tech came to have a look on his way home.
After repeating the fault he was baffled and went home.

Called AUDI assist and they sent the RAC who `escorted` me back to the dealers and luckily the car ran for the 5min journey without cutting out. The car is there now.

    Heres the twist....

The car had a service last week during which the brakes were inspected and I was advised the pads were low. At the same time it had a software update on the window module.

Then it went back yesterday for a brake fluid change and a replacement door window switch.
    Now the car is fecked.

    Coincedence??

According to the dealer.... "its impossible for these to be linked Sir"

TBH I dont care who/what/why as long as its fixed without any fuss.

The problem I have is that one of the Techs `road tested` the car after the service and reported he thought it was `chipped`. The Service Manger mentioned it but didnt seem that bothered.

So. Hopefully its an easy diagnostic and easy fix.

The worry is that it becomes a PITA for the dealer, and they try to wriggle out of any warranty work.

    Fingers crossed.
    Sick as a chip.:(

Appreciate any advice and ideas on the fault.

    Cheers

Holy ****! Did you get it checked out Paul?

I wouldn't accept the "its impossible for these to be linked Sir" - whilst you can appreciate it might not be link I don't think they can ruled it out unless they can prove what the fault is. Form your perspective car was working, when it for service and 1 week later it's not.

I hope it all works out!

Apparently one of the control modules is faulty, however the stored fault code does not specify which one WTF!?
So AUDI are currently trying to replicate the problem so they can identify the offending module.
Then they need to order the part(s). So Im no expecting it back for a while:sob:

IMO it is a major flaw in the car electronics design that allows it to cut out in motion due to a module failure.

    cheers

Sounds like it's in order now and hopefully it'll go thorugh warranty without any pain. At least there is one less thing to worry about..... Hope they have provided you with a a courtesy for the time being!

Flaws in Audi?? lol - like a free shower when you open the windows after it has been raining?

Easily the single most annoying thing in the world.!

Currently rollin` in a 2010 A4 Wagon Derv Auto. Lovely cabin, bit gutless though:unsure:
Bitched and moaned about the £10/day courtesy car insurance so AUDI have agreed to stand that for me.

TBH, they are doing a decent job from a Customer Service point of view.

    cheers

Thats not like you mate :undwech:

I had a A4 Wagon Derv Auto. loan car...+ side is 40mpg. Difficult to believe a software update and electrical problem are not linked...Cant really add much to that except, hope its sorted soon mate
    Good luck :)

Wind deflectors are the solution to the shower! I couldnt believe it was happening the first time i opened windows!!

I think the 1k exceesive is ludicrous from Audi if you damage the loan car!!

They told me it was 2.5K excess without the £10/day fee, but that the £10 daily supplement brings the excess down to £250.

Hopefully I wont have it too long.

Gotta say Paul, I took a 3.2 TT out for a test and lightly curbed a wheel parking it back at the showroom and they took my £500 excess in a flash. That money grabbing attitude lost them the sale which was worth more than £500. and saved me from a life as a hair dresser.....lol
