    Hello All,
I hope I am not covering old ground with this thread, but I am sure I will be told if I am. Ok here we go......

I am going to be ordering an S3 BE Sportback in Ibis White, with Open Sky System and pretty much all the bells and whistles, fairly soon and just wonder what the best gearbox option would be to choose ? The reason I ask this is with regard to future potential tuning options for the car. Although I haven't test driven an S-tronic gearbox yet, it does appeal to me. However, if I did go with this option would I still be able to re-map by installing a Bluefin unit at a later date ? Would the S-tronic box be able to handle the additional power ? Would I be asking for trouble with this option and so be better going with a manual transmission ?

Also with regard to the future power hike at a later date, would i be better sticking with the standard suspension rather than going for the magnetic ride option ?
I am going to be investing a lot of money in the purchase so I want to make sure I tick all the right boxes on the options list , so that I do not become bored with the car in a couple of years when i find there is no scope for upgrades.
Thanks in advance for your help and hope you are all having a great festive season
    Cheers

nice specs. same reason i didn't go for the s-tronic, but it seems that the s-tronic box can take more power than they said. there is edition30 runing over 360bhp with the standard DSG box without probs, as long as you service it regulary. there are few s3s with s-tronic so maybe their owners can give you more info. oh..and you will not get borred with your s3, with some mods it turns into pocket rocket. i know mine did :beerchug:

S-Tronic gearbox is very strong, the new software will increase the torque limit to 500nm. You don't want to be going for bluefin either, it's a load of rubbish...

Thanks very much for all your feedback gents.
I am stuck overseas at the moment and am desperate to get home to go and get the car ordered. I have a 2.0 TDI 140 PD SB BE in Misano Red at the moment. It is less than a year old with only 7,000 miles, but when i heard that they are doing the BE in S3 guise I just need to get one. It's become an obsession at the moment, trawling the Forum and Internet looking at every photo I can get ( sad I know ) . I love the A3 but it just doesn't do it for me after owning a few 911's etc.
I do not get back to UK until mid January , so if i order then I have no idea when i would likely get the car....... probably April ?
Going to cost a bit, but hey.... no pockets in a shroud are there !

No i use STAR performance in Kirkcaldy and would always recommend them as Jim knows his stuff. Please do not go to Checkpoint as they are a bunch of cowboys in a chav shop selling **** who just so happen to be able to put revo on. If you prefer Revo go to drivers in glasgow ive heard good things about them.
