S3 8L Remap stage 1... Possible air/boost leak..?

    Hi all,

    I Just had a remap stage 1 to my standard S3 8L 225 taking it to c. 255b and 360n..makes the car a real pleasure to drive.. I was cruising in 3rd and 4th gear today at about 2200revs and when I put the gas down to accelerate there was a slight shhhhh sound that I've never heard before, which occurred between 2600 and 4000revs, and what seemed to be like a slight loss in boost/power.. Can anyone advise the cause and fix to this? Slight air leak possibly?..

    Yes, so have a look for the leak, check all the boost pipes and clips. Smoke test will help hugely

    I'll check for leaks tonight. Bit of a novice question but how do you get a smoke test?...

    find a garage with the smoke test equipment..
    seems not many have them which amazes me, as they are so very usefull in finding leaks quickly

    I'm sat in the waiting room at MRC and they've just found a boost leak on my newly acquired S3

    Oh, and my turbo inlet pipe has a small leak.

    Anyone know where I can get one from......

    Thanks, I checked it last night and everything seems fine.. Going to take it into ZenSport later in the week to get a professional opinion form the guy who did my remap.. [maybe it's just the normal noise of the turbo etc that I've not been aware of before]

    Also, have got a Forge 008 diverter valve on the way as read these are a must upgrade after stage 1 as the stock DV doesn't hold the boost that well.. Is yellow spring the correct one to use?
