I right now have the choice between a S3 8L misano red with an Miltek exhuast and a 2L quattro Sline 8P. What would you go for?

I'd choose S3 all the way. I was contemplating the same thing 6-7 months ago. Since getting the S3 I've never looked back.

Surely it's personal preference. Which one do you like?

How do the two cars compare? Specs/mileage/price/condition/servicing.....

The S3 has 70k on the clock, looks in pretty good condition. Misano red with black wheels. Full leather electric seats Bluetooth and the likes. The only mod I know of is the miltek.

The s line I don't know much about yet as it not in till Saturday but it is a face lift version with 63k will get the rest of the spec tonight.

I have had 2 s3's and my wife has a 2.0t s line
Anyone saying the s3 is kidding themself!!!

Get tdi
They are so reliable i forgot how to open my bonnet.

However definitely get the newer car - 8P.

I think my decision would be based on what i needed the car for.

Having come from a number of german diesels, the S3 is a breath of fresh air, and injects fun back into driving. Diesels are a lot of things, but fun isn't one of them.

Are both cars identically priced? Drive both, then decide.

My S3 does very little mileage during the week, so its a bit of a toy, really. If i did a stack of miles in it weekly, i'd probably think differently.

Show us a pic of the s3. Ive got a misano s3 and want to know whether to get black wheels for it. :)

Ive driven the 2.0T sline 8p 2006 model and it drove brilliant and was fairly quick for standard..
Luckily my s3 has all the 8p s3 interior steering wheel gear knob sat nav etc so im happy with mine..
But the s lines are nice!!

The other thing to consider, is the resale value.... I'm pretty sure an 8L S3 will retain its value more in the next 5 years than an 8P 2.0t S Line.

Having spent all day giving my S3 a proper clean ahead of AITP tomorrow, I have to say I still love her loads!

The difference is S3 is a proper S model, with it being a stand alone model with unique body panels, trim and mechanicals, whereas the S line is just an A3 with some sporty bits added, like the difference between an XR3i and an RS Turbo Escort, the difference in value is massive, so as mentioned, give it five years or so and the S3 will hold its value more and be more desirable.
