Why would high power not have high egts.

All fepends on how far you push your hardware. At the time tuffty was aiming for 400 which was pushing his old turbo, hence his high egts

Mines been booked in for next year

I've had the miltek on for a little time now and it needs to go

Miltek good for 300-400 i say but not 500

I know i will see more gains from a custom 3 in + Pipewerx

The only video of it on a dyno was years ago and it made just a tad over 300 bhp, It then made 440 bhp on its next visit but no video and that was on standard cams and a 0.63 hotside.

No dyno video of 500+bhp and if you want proof of it you will next years when i have made a few other modifications and you may see 600 bhp

Turbo does get a little now but its still flow quite well and revs very well for a 2.1 as i asked for it to be set at 7800, it could rev more if i wanted it to but not really advisable with the rod ratio i run

No WOT box, its all mapped into the OEM management

Only worth using Full throttle shifting when you hit the redline. I've only used it once since mapped and don't plan to use it that often as it can do a lot of damage, not that harsh when changing gear but very loud and big bangs as you get flames spitting a foot long out you exhaust.

I'm always going to be running less than 300 so I don't see any need to replace the Miltek rear box as it should be adequate enough to do the job without issues.....still a step up from an OEM box.

    Never said there's didn't have high EGT'S :s

''I CAN imagine EGT's being high on big powered applications such as tuffty's and Andrew's but for my low 'sensible' power spec I don't think I need to worry about extremely high EGT's to the point where it would become a problem''

after 2 3 runs up and down through the gears on high boost ie 26psi on k04 your temps will rise if you parked it up and cut the engine it would just heat soak like a mofo worst thing too doo in my pinion if possible drive it round so air cools it down when coasting at high speed!!!afterall even on dyno they leave big fans blowing on engine too cool it theres no air when parked up just heats up the whole engine bay ect

No water meth yet as i have the AEM and not a fan of it really so looking for something better

Piper cams and they are well worth using and under rated. People rave on about how IE cam give you gains of 80 bhp on its street cams? but have you seen the spec of the engine they did the testing on? BT, head work, etc etc

If Piper did the same test with there cams on the same spec engine as IE i'm sure they would get good results

    My comparison....
K04, running 300bhp, all mods to achieve this - 920'c easily
    GT30 running 300bhp, egt's 680-700'c

The overall flow is higher on the larger framed turbo, hotside, exhaust manifold etc.... lower egt's
turn it up and yea.... they will rise.... but thats the mapping... and hardware combo

    230 g/s isnt a great deal for a hybrid.
If its tuned sensibly your egts will be ok and i wouldnt imagine a cat or miltek affecting them. It took tuffty about 380hp to decide to go 3inch.

its only stage 2 so not much of a hybrid no rs6 wheel! tuffty get 380bhp on a k04???surely not? i can add more timing advance???i would like 300bhp on my k04 setup what would be your next mod im after tourqe really??? so large port head i have but using it for another build as i will loose a bit off acceleration but gain on top end from what ive read? what tweaks can i do everything is in good condition except my poor old clutch pmsl

why all the work, when the manifold is the restriction?
i could be wrong but just seems like a lot of work for not a lot of gain

Going to a GT turbo or just a bigger turbo costs a lot more than you think

The manifold's A restriction, rather than THE restriction, removing further restriction later in the system will still help with the overall flow by reducing the pressure after the turbo/manifold, which minimises the restriction the turbo/manifold's causing. Multiple restrictions will be worse than a single one, even if the first one is the greatest. Plus the OP explained that the exhaust needed work anyway to make it seal, might as well improve it while he's at it.

I'm running a single straight through backbox on my Scirocco, 3" downpipe into a 2.5" flexi section then straight pipe up to the rear axle, wobble over the axle then a single straight through 2.5" box and a 3" single tail-pipe. The volumes really not bad at all, the turbo does a lot of silencing for you, keep it under half throttle and about 3/4k and it's not intrusive at all in the cabin. No figures though as I'm still running a k03 and standard map, I did the exhaust preemptively for when I improve the rest of the spec, as I needed to make one anyway.

    The system:

Finished down-pipe (much less space than in an A3):
