S3 2001 Bose front speakers not working - replacements?

    Gentlemen

    My newly acquired S3 only has working rear speakers. Its a bose system

    Is this common?

    What is the speaker set up for the car? 4 or 5" mid and a tweeter up front? Not sure on rear

    Can anyone advise what is best to replace them with? and is it an arse of a job with interior trim panels?

    All speakers in the Bose system are 4" on the 8L A3. Tweeters are 1".
    You really need to replace like for like as they run at 1 ohm impedance, so even low impedance replacements will only deliver less than half the power from the Bose amp.
    If you have no sound at all from the front then I doubt it is a speaker problem as the tweeters should still work, more likely the Bose amp.
