an any other performance figuers perhaps??
Nick

0-60 6.0s
0-100 15.5s
1/4 14.5 95mph

roughly

I recently did some 0-60 sprints and video'd the speedo. Achieved 5.8 - 6.2 over several runs so 6.0 is a good average.

Remember the S3's 0-60 is let down by having to change into 3rd. Measured over 0-80 it will beat / match any car in its class.

There is an S3 0-60 in the FAQ, but the link is dead.

I did 0-60 in 5.8 at Bruntingthorpe at GTI International 07 in a 02 S3 running Revo remap,ChrisS3 said it was the quite good

i havnt done 0-60 times but does 0-100 in 14 secs :)

And i get 80 in 2nd as i have 5 speed box and revs to 7500rpm:thumbsup:

my best times from pod are
6.0 secs to 62mph (100 kmh)
14.1 secs 1/4 mile @96mph
so i'm guessing 15.5secs to 100mph
after i fitting my short shift i dropped 0.5 sec off my 0-62 but these times are not anything to go by S3 is crap at this sort of thing!
with my new haldex controller i feel i can launch alot harder now, but at the same time scared my gearbox might just blow up!

5.8 is about as good as I think you could get on a remapped S3. (I still won:))

I think Caney's TT was about 4.8s with a big turbo and nitrous. And a lengthened gearset so it could do 60 in second.

4.8s

Isn't that a bit (actually a lot) optimistic? Even S3s with big turbos fail to meet that time.

Maybe im not denying it but it was on the 1/4 mile run in llandow (flat) i will admit i thought it sounded (is) to good to be true but it does rev alot better (faster) through the gears since fitting the lightned flywheel and clutch.. but who knows hey .....

4.8.........0-60ft on a 1/4 mile run maybe!! LOL

A good launch will get you a time of just under 6 seconds, and that's scraping it. The quickest you can probably get without upgrading the turbo is around 5.6-5.8 seconds I'd say.

No offence buddy, but why would you want to do 80mph in 2nd?

Unless its being timed with two people in car, half a tank of fuel and a suitcase in the boot its not gonna be comparable to the original way the times were spec'd.

Plus I recorded it on a casio watch with my mate and we got it down to 3seconds! He was pulling 4.8s in his 1.3 Escort...

my mk4 does 74 in second. Its very useful infact for overtaking in 60 areas when people are doing 45-50. Really flies by without the need t change up.

I think when you get the higher power outputs, the 5 speed makes for a nicer car to drive, as the 6 speed ratios are too short.

Fair enough, i thought changing up would be more beneficial...although i can see both of your points

I'd go so far as to say it's no possible...not just optimistic.
Caineys seriously modded TT complete with lengthened 2nd, big turbo and Nitrous only does that...and it's running 420BHP+ genuine, in a car with serious traction mods and a driver that is VERY good at getting his car off the line.

Under 5 seconds to 60 and 12.x over the quarter...I know because I was being left behind by him - in my 911!

4.8 in an S3 with a standard gearbox is pie in the sky...just not possible, in my view.

I'd suggest 5.4-5.5 is about spot on for a 270 BHP /300 lb-ft S3 with a competant driver...
And about 5.9-6.0 for a basic re-map.
Both suffer because of the gearbox.

The change to 3rd is what cripples the S3...so unless you have an engine that revs to 7700ish with a big turbo, or a longer 2nd gear, you can't do 60 in second...and tha change costs you 0.5 seconds due to the clunky gearbox.

I've driven an S3 that 'did' an early 5 second 0-60 and a 12.99 quarter...apparently with 280 BHP and 299 lb-ft...and next to mine it felt like somebody had stolen the turbo...
So the BHP/Torque figures were about as good as the 1/4 mile and 0-60 figures. That is to say...utter crap.
