S-Tronic = DSG?

    Should be a short thread...

    Is S-Tronic the same as DSG, i.e. just a rename, or is there actually a difference?

    Wouldn't want Bowfer to buy one by mistake :)

    i think they the same but apparent there have been a number of variants, upgraded versions etc all with different part numbers - i guess they have had to gradually improve it to keep up with the increased power and torque levels of the engine range.

    I can tell you what the S stands for,and it sure isn't 'sport'...

    It's just a rename because Audi want to distance themselves from VW.
    VW must have won the 'who keeps the DSG name' game of rock/scissors/paper.

    I think , but dont quote me, but the S tronic's have launch control as standard, as previously it was only avalible on the 3.2 V6

    2.0 TFSI have always had LC as well. The diesel models did not have LC until until the 170 TDI was released.
