Just cleaning up my new 2.0T FSI Sportback Sport. It's black, and I'm tempted to add an S Line grille badge and side badges. I'm not trying to to pretend its an S Line, but I just like the sportier look of a dash of red, as it otherwise looks a bit plain.

Has anyone else done this? Would I be scorned by the Audi geeks? Does it matter?! :D

    Cheers

That's Cheating ...with a capital "CHEAT"

Imagine an s-line with S3 badging because I prefer an "S" instead of an "A", or an S3 with RS3 badging! It's not right, oi tell e'. :nono:

Here's something you can paint a red splodge on and not feel you're deceiving anyone...

Ha, that was kind of what I thought! Damn it. It's not as if an S-Line is anything to be proud of... I just like the red bit!

If you like it then do it, it's your car at the end of the day.

My Sport came with S Line badges on the side trims, for some reason, and it looks much cleaner with them removed.

Mate your always gonna get haters! But if you like it, do it! It is your car a no one else's, I don't get the whole "if it is not an s-line/S3/RS3/Porsche (well a Porsche badge would look silly) then you shouldn't be allowed to put a badge on! Says who?? Some people are not as privileged as others, but if they want to add a little extra to make them feel better, then good on them I say.
Like that other forum member who has an RS3 but was dead against someone here doing a conversion, especially as it was a diesel, SO WHAT!!
It's like people getting remaps for better fuel economy but most importantly "performance". If you want better performance then get a Porsche or Lamborghini, but for most this is out of our means so we make the most of what we got.

Anyway rant over, if you like it fella, do it and good on ya!

    lol! What a hot potato!

I think i made it clear, I'm of the opinion that a badge is devalued if it's put on a car of lesser spec. Some might think it makes you look almost desperate to have a higher spec than you've got, but if you can live with that then it's game on. People's opinions will vary, but ultimately you don't need anyone else's permission to have your car the way you want it.

Btw: in contrast to you, I'd like to (and probably will eventually) get rid of the red in my wing badges, as I have for the rear badge.. I think it looks more "grown up" without the colour tbh.

Ha, ok - on balance I've been talked out of it! Maybe the clean look is better!

Certainly wasnt to try and have something 'better' than it actually is - S Line is just a slightly different spec. The Audi is just my daily runaround to save the weekend cars, so I should probably stop obsessing on the detail!

    Hot potato hot potato, lol.

The ones who think it makes people look desperate are in my eyes plain sad! Plenty of other things in life to worry about than worrying about someone with an S3 badge or whatever on there sport.

Suppose the people with Bentley wheels on their Audi is devaluing a Bentley?? Thought not.

    I see it this way,

if you get to the end of the evening and pull the trousers down of what you think is a 'fine' lady, only to find out that "she's" not the 'real deal,' and she has meat and 2 veg, you'd be a little disappointed to say the least....

Others may hold Bentley badged wheels in high regard, but I actually don't like non-OE badges on wheels or any other part of a car, except maybe an exhaust system. Be they Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari et al, and wouldn't have them on mine. I'd much prefer a nice set of BBS' with Audi logo centre caps. Even the boot up logo on my Pioneer head unit has been replaced with 4 rings.

BTW: I didn't realise the red in the s-line badges was only a sticker, I thought it was paint ...jobs a good un. 😄

Ha, I can kind of see that argument if we're talking M3 on a 318 or RS4 on a 1.8 A4, but hardly the same with an S Line badge....it's just a marginally different spec.....every other sodding car on the road is an S Line Audi! It was purely that I liked the red splodge!

On balance I probably wont do it, partly informed by others on here suggesting it might look cleaner without the badges. For what it's worth, I don't really have any issue with people badging their cars as they wish, but then I don't have any car insecurities!

So what are people's opinions on putting s-line badges on a sport that's been specced up. So if u added a roof spoiler, 18inch OEM alloys, honeycombed rear diffuser, RNS E and black edition front grill; does doing that allow you to add badges?
