Rs4 starter button Help needed

    Hi guys. Having a crack fitting the button. Has any1 fitted this to thr a4 b7? Any help would be much appreciated. Searched forums but guides coming up for a3. I think they work differently?

    NHN's probably the man if you need it fitting. Doing it yourself this thread may come in handy Fitted RS4 push start button into B7 A4 not entirely sure but the user may have also listed a DIY somewhere.

    Im doing it myself. Got illumination tested out a few wires & put in a few relays on different places but no joy. Any1 got a write-up to hand. Dont fancy putting console back together & re-stripping agn. Thanks

    Yes its my mod originally, I had an S4 B6 to fit too, sold it & bought an 8P, fitted to that some while back now, memories lol.

    RS4 starter button is purely a push to touch with an illumination circuit of the interior night mood lighting when headlights are on.

    You need to intervene with the ignition wiring & find the correct signal wire that would either signal the steering module to the ecu/starter or the direct wire signalling ecu/starter.

    Multimeter is your best bet to find the wire that changes spec when starting the car, think of it as a manual relay that's actioned by your hand turning the barrel, so you need to find the wire supplying when key is turned & the wire it transmits onto.

    I didn't use a relay on my 8P, as its a momentary signal to start, I cant imagine the B6/7 is any different.
