Anything diamond cut and replica doesn't last two minutes am i right in saying? Shame really as i do like those rims in the ebay link.. I just can't seeing them lasting too long, if they were painted silver as opposed to diamond cut they'd last a lot longer.

Personally i wouldnt bother with any of them, i have them on my car and one is scratched, not curbed, its just developed a scratch half way up one spoke and i'm buggered, cant do anything with it TBH. Its just not a practical wheel.

One of mine scratched/stone chipped on the first day out (the 18's)

I've Jetsealed the 19's twice, and will top it up once a month to reduce the exposure to contaminants. I'm about to get on to Juicy Detailing for some non acidic wheel cleaner as I don't think that will help the diamond cut surface either.

If you don't park with extreme care, or you loan the car out to anyone these wheels are trouble. Quite trick when new, but as Paddy says they are a handful. There will be some stinkers about in a few years on second hand market so expect to see many painted ones.

EDIT: When I spoke to the bayer who has been highlighted in the earlier posts of this thread (Sorted-Richard), I called him up and he was adamant if I din't buy immediately I may not be able to get them for months. I'm assuming by the fact they are still on sale that it's bull**** and he has an ample supply. Don't be pressurised.

It's the diamond cut part which is the problem then Warren?

VW had diamond cut finished BBS RCs on the Golf MK4 Anniversary, once the lacquer went and water got underneath - the customer complained and they'd replace the wheels with the same but painted versions (assuming it wasn't down to normal kerbing), so audi might do the same? Hold on, no they won't.. Just keep sealing them up!

Mate the non acidic cleaners are just alkaline, which is pretty much just as bad. Best thing to do would be keep them sealed up and just use car shampoo. No need for a wheel cleaner if your wheels are properly sealed up.

I purchased a 'deal' with Audi for GAP Insurance / Paint & Interior Protection (only allowed them to do interior protector which is why I now have limited swirls) / Alloy wheel protection for 3 years / Accident cover....

The wheel cover allows me to have my wheels 'retouched up to 3 times a year', but I asked the salesman as to how they were going to do this because the wheels aren't painted, they're diamond cut, and he said that he wasn't too sure but he'd check into it. Since I've only kerbed a rim (kiss of death here!) once in the last 3 years I'm not to bothered, but I'm happy to pay to have them fixed properly every 18 months as it keeps the value of the wheels higher (second hand), and makes the car look better.

Some of my mates have owned various sets of the VW rims that had this finish and they were a lot of trouble and like you say I'm sure the dealer sprayed them in the end. One set ended up being replaced from memory.

Wheels are a pain in the ass, but like the car picks up stone chips (which I can't avoid), I'm not going to choose another set of rims just because of wear & tear. I will do all I feasibly can to keep things in check, but if it's not a museum piece its the best I can do. If you use it on roads it's gonna get dirty / worn; end of!

TBH i have been in engineering all my life and i look at my wheels and struggle to see diamond cut ? they look painted to me. diamond cutting usually results in a grooved surface that reflects rainbow light. I would say the turning on my wheels is so good its almost ground which is completely opposite to diamond cut ??

Yea but that effect is because the finish has grooves in like a CD, the BE wheels are not grooved so i dont see it as diamond cut. Surely the diamond but refers to the pointed tool used to create that rainbow effect with a slightly to fast feed ?

    Hi all

Im looking for some of these too.

Found a place locally who sell them after finding this link:

    18" ANTH/POL ALLOY WHEELS AUDI A3 A4 A6 TT VW T4 S3 S4 | eBay

I visited the shop but the wheels are not in the matt/anthracite finish. They are more of a gloss gunmetal finish. Are the OEM wheels a matt finish all over?

What are peoples thoughts on gloss finish? The ones in the initial link appear to be gloss finish too.

    I also found these:

Toronto Collection for Audi and VW Alloy Wheels // Projex Design UK // Alloy Wheels Specialist

Which appear to have the matt finish like the OEM, maybe someone can confirm this? They are wanting £650 for 18" with tyres. I emailed them asking for pictures of the actual wheels that would be purchased and they said they cannot provide a pic but would happily take a £100 deposit. Sounds a bit of a con to me should the wheels not be to satisfaction.

Also just to add my 2 pence worth, as Paddy says, I do not think they are diamond cut. They seem to be painted more than anything. I would definitely recommend using non acidic wheel cleaner on diamond cut wheels as opposed to acidic, but like Sheikh says you are best using plenty of layers of sealant (try Poorboys Wheel Sealant or Finish Care FK1000p) and washing with a ph neutral shampoo.

Gloss would be easier to keep clean.
this is my wheel std finish the darker colour is paint , the lighter colour is supposed to be clear lacquer but i have my doubts TBH.

    Paddy

Your right in that it would be easier to clean due to the lacquer, but imo the gloss wheels look terrible obvious that they are fake/replica. If anyone can find some matt/anthracite non gloss finish ones, I would bite their hands off!

Also, what is the offset of the OEM wheel?

    I couldn't run ET33 with 9J rolling 235's.

Love the wheel, but 8.5J ET42 would be the most I could consider.

    I had a chance of a set of A5 3.0TDi Rotors (9J ET33) when I bought my OEM RS3 rims, but with ET33 they weren't even close!!
