I think three days is a bit slow... But the correction will be what takes the time.. One stage should be quick really unless your paint is completely wrecked? I just had mine done with pretty close to what you listed, except with a 3 stage mop, so my paint is looking like glass! And also had some premium swissvax carnauba put on too.. It took a day (8hours), but my paint was really good already

3 days is a bit long. I am also having G-Techniq C1 applied to my RS3 in a couple of weeks and am being quoted a day and a half for full paint correction, C1 application (overnight cure) and final inspection by a G-Techniq approved detailer. Admitedly I'm not asking for the interior or wheels to be done but those in themselves are not a 1.5 day job.

DDB Valeting in Newcastle is the company doing mine. I would thoroughly recommend Cambridge Autogleam albeit not that local to you, Nathan does outstanding work on some very top end cars but treats each one to the same high standard and not a million miles away from you.

    1. How much is that costing is my first thought !? 2. I would'nt wax the door shut area ... the doors may start to creak and squeak !! Just use a sealant and Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care on the rubber and felt seals - that has cured my creaky drivers door seals. 3. Ask for Gtechniq C1 followed by EXOv2 - this will give you better swirl resistance (C1) and a fantastic slick and glossy finish (EXOv2). 4. Gtechniq stuff needs to cure indoors for 12 hours so 3 days is reasonable as long as the cost doesn't include curing time. 5. For that level of detail get them to seal all your glass with Gtechniq G1 ... just a clean isn't good enough !!!! 6. For a three day detail your alloys should be taken off and cleaned, clayed, polished, clayed and sealed with Gtechniq C1 and EXO as well. Hee hee .. be tough with them and get the ultimate detail :sm4:

Keen to do this too, once brake fix is out, windscreen is fixed and (possibly) paint shield is applied. Any recommendations for SE/Kent/Surrey? Also, if your beast lives on the driveway and you do a lot of miles, how long does the loveliness last before fading? Seems like the few times I've cleaned the car she's got grubby within a couple of days, although I appreciate it's a different level...

True but the difference is whether you can tell. The detailers who use waxes at £2k per 500ml tub do a great job however I suspect 90+% of the population wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that wax and Collinite for example.

Yes your car is going to get dirty but after the hard work of removing all contaminents and blemishes and making it glass like the majority of all the dirt will be easy to remove with a quick wash as all the hard work has been done. The duration of the sealant/wax etc will depend on what it is. 22PLE glass coat is said to give 12-18 months protection whilst there are some waxes that give 3,6 months. All depends on what you want really.

If you are thinking of getting Paintshield, here is a pic of my car after it was done:

It has the full front and half the wings and bonnet done (up the centre line of the wheel arches). This is the second car I've had them do for me and I find it worth the cost, personally.

dbm, can the same company do a paint correction/thorough wash prior to application? The thing is, if I get the car a paint correction and a "detail", i don't want to drive it even 50 yards outside before it gets the 3M shield...

Most of the Ventureshield installers can do paint correction as part of the package for you or if not, will know a detailer who would come in and do that for you on their premises. Paintshield also said to me when I enquired they would do paint correction if ask for and TBH it is worth doing even if you only have slight swirling because as much as it is a film, it does not hide imperfections in the paint.

I never asked if they could do that, but I am sure they can. They tend to work with top-end motors so I'm sure they get asked for it by the real car connoisseurs.

Cheers guy. I think I may well do this before our next meet. This car gets stones chips all over the bonnet (and I'm not mentioning the windscreen) and seems very fragile.

Thank you for the advice RS3-KEL.

Who wants to offer the full package (paint correction + detail + sealant + ventureshield) around Berkshire for a fair price? I think I'd like to cover the front bumper/headlamps, full bonnet, arches and wing mirrors covers...

Just realised, sorry for the thread hijack . Maybe tee-bee and other southerners (Bilen, PigPen if not too far), might be tempted by a group buy?

I think it was around £800 for my coverage, might have been a bit more. I do high mileage so it's worth it to me.

I asked this question today and they have a detailer who can work from their premises. Cost for what dbm has had done (I think) is about a grand, third front end only is about £500 and full body is £3.5k.

I'd be interested in a group buy for paintshield and detailing... They're based in peterborough I think.
