I've been driving around for a couple days hearing a very loud tinny rattle coming from one of the rear wheels...so after a few inspections I narrowed it down to the thin metal heat/dust shield on the back of the rotor ( at least I think that's what it is?)

On removal of the wheel and a closer inspection the of the shield, it seems its come away completely from the studs holding it in place...

So I did a bit of research to see if this shield was important, and it seems it doesn't hold much purpose at all? If anything from what people have said on other forums, it restricts the airflow to the rotor, so under hard braking in spirited driving and on track days ect....

So I'm thinking about removing it completely, unless anyone can tell me any reason to keep it, then ill replace it...

Anybody experienced the same issues? With the heat? Or the rattle?

Cheers max
