I am stripping my S3 for weight reduction and at some point i will need a full rollcage so that i can go for GFK doors, panels etc.
Also i want rigidity (for track) besides the safety so i need a weld-in full rollcage. I made a search on the net and forum(s) but couldnt get anything helpful.
Is there anybody tracking their A3/S3's (8P)?
Any help in rollcage stuff (where to find or how to make one) will be most appreciated!!

    thanx in advance..

Just a word of caution first....don't do this if you have any thoughts of selling the car after.

I've had a car with a full welded in cage and to anything other than a racer or trackday enthusiast it simply will not sell.

Ok. Warning aside, your best bet would be to go to a race or track prep business relatively near to you and get this done professionally.

Anything less than a proper welded cage will add weight but not a whole lot of strength or rigidity compared to a welded cage.

The S3 is actually quite stiff compared to cars from a few years back and you should take that into account when stripping weight and then adding back maybe 50+kgs of cage.

The goal is to add to power/weight ratio and losing the air con along with the heavy OEM brakes and rims would be one route as would removing the rear seats and trim.

I'm sure you've already thought of that though....try both AMD and VWRacing as both have experience of building and racing cars like this.

Ignore most of what I've just said!

I can see from your profile what you've already done and where you are.

I would still stick to a race/rally prep company who will not only know how to fabricate a cage but will also do it properly....many of those bolt in things are awful.

Maybe have a chat with AJames who has some good advice and experience also.

    Good luck.

thank you all for helping so far. Yes, i am located in Istanbul /TR. thats why i am looking for a ready built kit. as far as i searched, i couldnt find any ready weld-in kit. there are some bolt-in half cages but thats not what i am looking for.
    actually i have 3 options ;
    1) find a ready made weld in kit and assemble it here.
    2) have it done here in TR (i know a guy to have it built but he is very busy thats why i am looking for a ready kit)
    3) forget about the rollcage :/

I also checked driftworks' website but they dont have a proper cage for A3/S3 but i will also get in touch with them to be sure.
I am also checking for the FIA regulations (safety regulations) as they are made for safety and will be a good guide building the rollcage.

FYI, i have done so far; replaced oem front seats with sparcos, replaced oem seat belts with 4 points, deleted sunroof, A/C, rear seats, in trunk equipment isolating stuffs, rear quarter panel cards, sound deadining sponges, rear speakers and sub, floor carpet, curtian air bags and some more bits, plastics etc that i cant remember at the moment.

If you're racing it,I'd think a weld in cage is essential but for trackdays, there are a lot of people going without the cage and relying on updated suspension and brakes plus the Haldex controller.

May also be worth ringing VWRacing and AMD as they may be able to give advice on cages.

well, i am not thinking to sell it for a long time. i had thoughts of selling the car but after increases in vehicle taxes here in TR i am absolutely sure to keep S3. after last taxes the list price of an S3 become to 70K Eur and Rs3 is 111k eur(without any optional equipment) !! :crying: :banghead: :motz: in this case i prefer building the S3 rather than buying a new car .

    Same here to be honest.

I don't have any plans to sell mine as I'm still enjoying the car and "improving" it.
