Take a look at this summary of the new "green" tax rates announced in the Budget:-

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/Budget2008/DG_073093

I paid £210 in February to renew my Road Tax for 1 year for the 3.2 V6, which is rated at 230g/km by the DVLA. As from 1 April 2009, the rate will increase to £415 per year. Granted, it doesn't appear that I will have to pay that until I renew it in February 2010 but it amounts almost to a doubling of the tax. I guess that secondhand values will fall quickly from now.
