One of the reasons why I took a smaller engine was the attractive road tax of £30 a year.

I received my DVLA road tax renewal form and its asking for £105 for 12 months. Now looking on the CO2 emmision its 123 G/KM and Audi's specification should only say 120G/KM. 120G/KM is the top of the tax band category.

Has anyone one else experience this issue or advise what I can get done because to me its not right.

    Thanks

I have just renewed mine for £105.

When i read the brochures last year I believe the 3 door does fall into the £30 bracket, but the 5 door just trips into the £105 category.

How come on the current road tax which was bought by Harrow-wood Audi was £30?

EDIT: Grrr annoyed, the Co2 is 123 which does fall out of the tax band. When did this change!?

Don't think it did change. The brochure I have from Dec 2012 lists the sport back co2 emissions as 123 and the 3 door at 120.

Still doesn't quite explain why your current disc says £30, unless there's some quirk for first year tax being different?

just had a look on parkers.co.uk lists the SB at £105 and the HB at £30. Maybe theres some special rate for the first year.

I#m sure this is differently whats currently showing on my tax disc (£30)

Anyone with a bit more experience can explain why its £30 and now its jumped up so much? I will take a proper look tomorrow morning.

First year tax discs are usually cheaper. My A1 was free for the first year and has been £20 each year since.

When I was looking at getting new car I found that the 1.4 was gonna be £105 per year after first year but the CoD was £20. No explanation to why the first year was £30 because even at £105 the first year should have been free.

    Petrol and Diesel enginesFirst year A – up to 100g/km B – 101 to 110g/km C – 111 to 120g/km D – 121 to 130g/km E – 131 to 140g/km F – 141 to 150g/km G – 151 to 165g/km H – 166 to 175g/km I – 176 to 185g/km J – 186 to 200g/km K – 201 to 225g/km L – 226 to 255g/km M – over 255g/km £0.00 £0.00 £0.00 £0.00 £125.00 £140.00 £175.00 £285.00 £335.00 £475.00 £620.00 £840.00 Annual rate (second year onwards) £0.00 £20.00 £30.00 £105.00 £125.00 £140.00 £175.00 £200.00 £220.00 £260.00 £280.00 £475.00 £1,065.00£490.00

I believe that tax groups changed last year, as can be seen from above, 1st year for the smaller co2 emissions free now for first year, previously were £30.

Wow. Didn't realise that the COD 1.4 was only £30 / year after first year. This is a great little bonus before collection on Friday :)

It's actually £20 per year on the s-tronic anyway.

Makes me feel cheated when I asked the sales that it was £30 a year. Might as well upgrade and get the 1.4 Cod instead.

Salesman probably got confused between HB and SB. To be fair you wouldn't think a difference of 3ppm on CO2 would make that much difference, but sadly it's just over the threshold.

There is a first year rate which is different to subsequent years, so called 'showroom tax' because for the higher bands the first year rate is much higher than the subsequent years. For the lower bands however, it's cheaper - including being free for my 2.0 TDI, and only £20 a year after that - was one of the reasons for me choosing the engine :D

If you've got it in writing or email anywhere you'd have a case for going back to them with that and asking them to pay the difference...

You could try it then but there's always the chance they'll just deny it

    Mine is a 1.4 122bhp S-tronic sportback and it's only £30. My V5 says it emits 119g/km I think. I'll have a look later.
