RNSE not talking to the ignition anymore.

Hi, a friend of a friend has an RS4 with nav and I believe AMI (iphone connection)

The issue he has is recently the RNSE has stopped switching with the ignition, ie ignition on, RNSE doesn't come on anymore and vice versa, ignition off RNSE stays on. Obviously he can press the button on RNSE but wondering why it's not doing it automatically anymore.

Any help greatly appreciated. If I can solve this he might take me out in it. :-D

The RNS-E turns on/off with ignition by decoding messages on the CAN bus, so if it's not turning on/off then here's a problem on the CAN bus.

Do a Full VCDS scan and see what CAN bus errors get reported.

Cheers thanks, I kinda guessed Can bus, having read between the lines on similar threads. Unfortunately I don't have VCDS just yet, but least I can point him in the right direction.

Can anyone shed any light please?
He has a Dension iPhone 4 bracket in place of a CD changer, which along with his TV are now not working, as well as the aforementioned fault up the thread.

What's the best way to pop the RNSE out to check connections?

Well the fault codes do show can-bus errors and they are not intermittent. Did the fault start when the Dension was fitted?

No, the Dension was fitted before he took ownership. He thought he'd pressed a button inadvertently which stopped the Dension talking etc.
