E-mailed my local Audi dealer this morning to request a part id. I received a prompt service to be fair and the following image.

    23.jpg

It's part 23 I am after. After being told that it is £0.49p I asked if they could post it out. No was the answer as they cannot take payment over the phone. Fair enough I thought. Asked for the part number so I could source elsewhere.

COMPANY POLICY NOT TO GIVE OUT PART NUMBERS

Ridiculous if you ask me. £40K on a car and I am still not entitled to know what the part number of a £0.49p part is!

Can anyone on here help me out with a part number for said part?

Thanks in advance. (Please don't tell me that it's forum policy not to allow part number sharing :) )

I think its a very fair policy, people phone dealers hundreds of times a day, just to get part numbers to go elsewhere, ebay, scrappy etc, they have to pay parts guys to do the job, if they keep giving out info for free everyday of the week they wouldn't make money to run the nice shiny dealerships everyone loves to walk into for new cars.

Agree to an extent, but it's customer satisfaction that breeds brand loyalty (for me anyway). Arguing the toss over a .49p or even a £500 part is only going to irritate the customer. Irritated customers are less likely to think about using your company in the future when looking to buy a car\service a car etc.

There is a breed of company in this world that believes they are protecting their own financial interests by making life difficult for their customers in the way described above, but in my opinion this is exceptionally short sighted.

In some situations I would agree but in this one I don't. I bought my car from Audi, not off a used car salesman or privately. Also, I was willing to buy the part from them, the fact they can't take payments over the phone is their issue, I'm the customer and I'm right.

I'm actually so right that the manager has agreed that I can pay over the phone and they will ship it on this occasion.

Props to the dealer for actually thinking about the nonsensical policy in this instance and changing his mind ;)

That's far more difficult than ringing a dealer and ordering the part over the phone.

My guess is Blackburn or Preston Audi? I tried to order a swirl flap repair kit from BB Audi was told I would have to do a 20 mile round trip just to pay then another 20 mile round trip to pick it up when it comes in!!
I rang Bolton Audi who did it all over the phone and I pickd the item up when I was passing

I will not be buying my R8 from Blackburn after I win this weeks lottery
