I recently had REVO stage 1 upgrade to my 2009 8PS3, completed by SP Autobahn in Stirling, Independent Porsche Specialist - SP Autobahn German marque servicing and repairs in Central Scotland.

An excellent service by Stuart, after install he went through intensive datalogging runs and got the car set up with a smooth progressive delivery as I asked. In addition to this he took the time show me the logs and explain what adjustments were made during the logging sessions.

    All round good service.

Thanks to all at SP Autobahn and REVO

Its interesting to read what you had done. Datalogging, logging runs, explanation, etc. All i got when i had a stage 1 was sat in a cold waiting room, no coffee or tea and 6 hours later after much to and fro i got the car back in a less than desirable condition. Obviously it counts as to who does your work!!

I think it pays to visit a few places before investing as sometimes the modification path can become a long and costly trail, and if you have an ongoing relationship with a good / likeable tuner they will know your car, probably be more helpful, and be better placed to support you ongoing. The hard part is always how far are you prepared to travel, but it's why I think recommending great service on here is so important as it helps us all.

My problem is location. We have 2 REVO agents. One in Inverness and one in Aberdeen. The guy in Inverness has a great repuation but cannot map the B8. He does not have the correct equipment. The agent in Aberdeen did mine but we had issues from the start (all got resolved eventually). The main one was despite questioning the fact that it may not be possibe to map through the OBDI port they said it could be. The ECU was then flashed and unfortunately wiped!!!! ECU was then removed and 6 hours later i finally got the car back following many frantic calls to REVO. In my opinion this is something the agent should have been aware of. New anti tamper bolts were not fitted (the slotted/ground down ones were re fitted and one was not fitted at all) and the grindings were left lying in the engine bay requiring an full engine bay de contam to remove the small rust spots they eventually caused. All in all not a good experience. If teh guy in Inverness gets sorted I will be going there in future. Fingers crossed.

I think this is the hardest challenge for Revo, when dealers enrol to take on the Revo brand, whilst the Revo product is standardised you are at the mercy of the person doing the front facing work and their depth of skills. Some take on a franchise as a 'sideline' and don't always give the full service as it's just a cash cow. Those who really care won't let you leave until your satisfied.

I remember your threads and really felt for you as it's not a great way to start proceedings. I have to travel about 65 miles each way to APS in Brackley for my work, but they are so good it's a sacrifice worth making.

Genuinely hope your experience improves, if not do vote with your feet.

I love cars and everything about them. I am pretty good with mechanics and electronics. I have considered many times getting into tuning but always thought of it as an add on to a normal garage or vehicle parts supplier. Our area would really benefit from a good REVO agent. If someone set up a good tuning facility with rola decent rolling road set up i am sure they would at least make enough to have a good lifestyle. Setting up costs are the killer though. I see a lot of mobile tuners but am always very wary. Not sure why but for some reason i am. However my experiences with the REVO agent i used have not been positive. The issue for me now is if i go anywhere else do i have to pay the full price again. Probably i would think. Hey ho once bitten etc. REVO themselves have been a great help but are let down by the less than adequate service provided by their agent. I do not want them having my car again.

If you did have to go elsewhere for support (e.g. a map being overwritten by dealer as part of an update), I'd have a word with Revo UK support and I'm sure they could sort something out for you (which wouldn't involve a drive to Daventry!).

I the past I've had a similar issue and I ended up paying an hourly rate for another garages support after the garage I'd used had gone bust. It was money well spent. There are always options to be negotiated and you have a strong position!
