Reverse light on when driving???

New member to this forum, just wanted to know if anyone has had this problem, and how do you go about fixing it.??

Welcome to the forum.

I would assume it's a fault with the reversing switch in the gearbox.

what engine? manual or auto?

my first port of call would be to find the reverse light switch and unplug it. if the light goes off its the switch or whatever presses it in the box.
unscrew the switch and check it with the multimeter. make sure its making and breaking the circuit.

im not sure off hand where the switch is on an auto.
manual one will be a two pin one somewhere on the box probably on the n/s i think?

Solution, change to forward gear

I had the same problem on my car, & replacing the reverse light switch solved it.

Lots of info on here of how to locate and change the switch on a b5 model, but not much info for b6 avant 6 speed manual.
Anybody got pics or description of how to do this.
