    Hello!

    I bought the 8P0 054 690 cruise control kit for my 2005 A3 3-door, no singleframe.
I have fitted the cc and tried the coding in vagcom. And the ecu have accepted the CC. But it still does not work.
I have tried desperately to find the blue connector for the extra wiring that came with the kit, but i can not find it. Been looking for hours.

The connector 13 already had a wire going into it. Is that correct?
    I have the 953 549F.

Can somebody please help me what to try next?

Have you coded steering and engine control modules ?

Not sure what you mean by 'no singleframe'

    I'm so sorry....we did a mistake.

We took the test drives with vagcom still connected to the car. And then it would not work. But as soon as we removed it, it works :)

Funny thing is the set button and resume function does not work. Only off and when i push it up or down deploys.

    Any idea why?

Sounds like you have steering module version that starts 1K0 not 8P0. I had this with my first module and if I remember correctly your CC operates in the 'alternative' mode as follows :-

When the stalk is pushed fully away from you it is 'OFF'

Pull the stalk towards you until it clicks and it is 'ON'

When driving flick the stalk towards you to 'ARM' the system and then flick downwards to set speed when ready

Whilst CC is set then push up to increase speed or down to decrease speed

To disengage CC flick stalk away from you (or press brake or clutch pedal)

    To 'RESUME' flick stalk downwards

The 'SET' button does not operate at all with that steering module.

It is quite easy to get used to and operates in a quite logical manner when driving.

That's what i figured out to :) Right now i'm just glad it works.
It's not worth the hassle to change the steering module for that?

Thank you for your help :)

You said in post#5 that it's not worth the hassle to change steering module.

Unfortunately you will need to get a 'Highline' steering module. Yours is a 'Midline'

There is no way to make it work how you want it to without changing the module - sorry.

I know, but i had worked on it 6 hours so i was just glad it worked :)
But now i'm ready to go again, and i really want it to work proper.

Do you know what part number of that steering module? And that's all i need to do? No other parts?

8P0 953 549 F - approx (£170 from Audi) or you might be lucky to find one on ebay for about £100.

    No other parts are needed.

Should be able to change over in about 30 - 45 minutes but if it took 6 hours for you to do it first time then it might take longer.

No the whole job was actually done in about 1 hour. But the only mistake i did was to not unplug the computer and vagcom, so when i went for a test drive it did not work. so i spent 6 hours looking for the blue connector, because i recon that was the only thing missing. But i was proven wrong ;)

I think i have the 8P0 953 549 F. Not to say sure, but there is no other reason for it to be working in alternative mode right?

You have got 1K0 953 549 F. It is not the same as 8P0 953 549 F. If you had the 8P0 version and coded it correctly then it would work as planned.

    Where are you based ?

Norway is a bit too far to travel to try and help you out but I'm sure if you get the new control module you will have it fixed very quickly.!!

Good luck and let us all know how you get on.

But you have given me all the help i need, and i'm really grateful for that! :) This is by far the best forum.
I checked the prints in vagcom, and i have the 1K0. So hopefully i'll get hold of danny's module :)

I will let you know how it goes :)

Just one more question :) The slip ring can stay as it is right? Don't need to change that too?

Slip ring is ok. Check on vagcom - it should have suffix 'D' which is right.

It is a 3-door btw. In etka the F is for 4-door. That does not matter?

Ok i trust you :) It's just my fellow mechanic who says my slip ring suffix C in etka, and that it is only for 4-door the F module :) Hope Danny's still up for sale so we'll find out quick :)

That i did not know :(

But you are right. Since the slip ring D goes with the module F and slip ring C goes with module J, and i have module 1K0 953 549 F. So if i have 1K0 or 8P0 slip ring with suffix D it will still work? Don't need the slip ring to be 8P0 to?

You have the correct slip ring - ignore your mechanic !! 'C' or 'D' will be ok.

There are plenty of threads on here to help you - just search for cruise control.

Make sure you tape the slip ring together after you have removed the steering wheel because if it moves position when you remove it it can be quite complicated to get it re-aligned.

By the way I am speaking from experience because this is everything I had to do previously, firstly to fit CC and then to fit mfsw !

    Hello again! :)

There is a new problem....since i have the old steering wheel, danny's module and slip ring is for a dual stage airbag, and i have a single stage. What options do i now have to makes this cruise control work properly? Is there no other slip ring that will work? Now i don't have powersteering, esp or stereo :/
