Had a search and couldn't find the answer but guessing this has been asked.

My sister just picked up her new 8V A3 S Line which has a cd player with SD card slots in glove box, fin aerial and rear parking sensors.

To get sat nav and the rear parking display is it just a VCDS + Audi maps on SD card task or is hardware required?

    Thanks

VCDS for the rear visual lines. Nav needs a few more bits I think.

SatNav needs a licence activating by Audi. No other way around it.

Thanks guys. Got price - google works better than the forum search when finding info! So Sat Nav will be around £650. Sis said she'll pass as has a fancy tom-tom unit already.

    Good news about parking display.

Does anyone know about Tyre Pressure Monitoring? Is that just VCDS too?

If you search this forum you will find cheaper ways of getting the SD satnav, rather than just going to the dealers.
I believe a number are willing to activate a satnav card bought from ebay for less than the £495 which is usually quoted. Not quite sure where £650 came from.
Supposedly pukka Audi satnav cards can be had for less than £100, albeit with last years maps.

Went to my dealer today to ask how much it would cost to activate a second hand sat nav SD card (that I've seen on an internet auction site...). I was advised by the service guy that these cards are issued with one compatible activation code and that once that code has been used once, it can't be used again!.. Now, I am by nature fairly cynical and wonder if this is actually true, but knowing how keenly manufacturers try to protect their investment from 'spurious abuse' it might also be true.
