Hello, I have a 2004 1.9 TDI Sport B6 model. The oil pressure warning light doesnt work when the ignition is turned on. It has been put on vagcom and some other fancy computer and no faults show. Now i've got the fear that if my oil or pressure drops i'll do horrific damage without realising it. I do check the oil regularly but i hate it when stuff doesnt work properly grrr!!

Can an oil pressure gauge be fitted? Has anyone done said job? Ive seen quite a few retro fit gauges on flea bay but wonder re compatibility.

Many thanks in advance :)

Why doesn't the light work? I think I'd be more inclined to spend the time and money sorting that out first.

I am not very mechanically minded, I noticed this a while back and left car in to a local mechanic with an Audi background. I had a B6 se before this sport and when the washer level got low a display would appear on the dash warning of such. The sport fidn't do this and I thought the 2 were connected. After much hoking the mechanic was beat and couldn't figure out why the oil light or low washer warning were not working. As far as I know he put it thought the vagcom and no faults were detected.

I then took it to an Audi specialist who put it on to another computer (hand held device) but not a vagcom and he couldn't find a fault either. He discovered that my dash doesn't have the low washer warning though, apparently it's only on the se??

it was left that my dash was needing replaced at an approximate cost of £400 eeeeeek!!!

So that's why I thought of a retrofit oil pressure gauge.

It's not quite that clear cut.... but close.

The low washer warning only comes with the Driver Information System (DIS), which wasn't standard fitment on the Sport models, so I doubt that's related to the light not working. It's more likely to be the sensor and/or bulb than the dash in my experience, but of course never say never....

Yes, I thought it was a standard fit to all models and that some how the 2 were connected. I can live without the low washer warning but the oil lights a different story.... Surely if it was a blown bulb in the dash it would show up on vagcom/other thing?? My worry is that although ibd put 4k miles on the car that previous owner has sabotaged the sensor or light to hide a fault?

The mechanic I use is a fairly tenacious guy and I believe him when says its the dash or dash module?? He has checked all sensors etc and they all appear to be ok.

So I'm kinda stuck :(

you dont have a oil pressure light come on the dash before start up!

yeah It is built in to the DIS and you will soon know if it comes on!
