Retro Fit Sat Nav

I've got a slight issue that I hope someone can help me with - or at least point me in the right direction.

I've got an A6 with the inbuilt screen (see screenshot) and have purchased a sat nav unit which I'm told will work.

There are a numebr of issues (most of which are because I'm a complete newbie)!

I'm trying to find instructions on how to fit the thing!
I'm unclear on the differences between RNE/Symphony etc.
Also slightly concerned now that updating the software (mine says 6c-Hu6350 12.0.0 0513) will knacker the operating system.

The unit I have has no screen - just the dvd unit + cables. The car has a screen built seperatly into the dash.

Any help greeatfully appreciated.

Thanks Tractorman, however no matter how much I search - I can't find it!

Bought the dvd drive off of ebay but no instructions. Got it working by disconnecting radio but not sure where the cables go (12v, Gnd and Diag) - how to fit them and do I need to update the MMI?

I'm completley new to this so any help would be appreciated.

Also would donate to favourite charity on completion.
