reset airbag light

Hi hope someone can help!..

road debris hit the airbag sensor and caused the passenger seat airbag to go off, the seats have all been replaced, the control unit etc was checked out at a dealers, and tested ok, so how do I got about resetting the airbag indicator on the dash?

You can only reset it using VAGCOM, or get the dealer to do it. Apparently all airbags are disabled if the warning light is showing, but this seems a bit extreme.
