notice a few Golf owners have been replacinng their rear wiper arms for that of a Skoda. It is supposed to reduce judder as well as looking a bit cleaner. Thoughts anyone?

from which Skoda?
and does anybody have the parts numbers?

I already changed the front wiper arms and blades on my S3 by the aero ones from a Golf IV, fits perfectly and looks mucho better (thanks Drill).

JayBee,

Got any pics of the front ones? What do you mean by aero ones?

Cheers

Sorry no pic (no digicam).
The earo wiper blades are the new ones and they are made totally from rubber/plastic (iso rubber and metal in the old type blades)
They are flexible and press better to the glass, so the clean the window nicely. Also you can hardly see them from inside the car while they are down.
The design gives an overall "cleaner" look.
Almost all the new VAG cars have them i think.
The wiper arms and blades from Golf IV fit the S3

Drillslinger off of the Tyre-smoke site has it done. I grabbed a bit of one of his pictures.

****** and I've just spent 25 replacing the front two with Bosch jobbies.

Rear wiper looks the bizz.

So who's going to be the first to try and fit the rear arm and blade?

just thinking......... isnt the back wiper on the A and S3 on the left side??? (when non operating position)??

I guess the Skoda wiper wont fit then because that one is in the right position..... (correct me if I am wrong).

It is on the left side but I don't see why that should stop you, see......

Yeah ok so it was just a rough attempt but you'll get the idea....me thinks

is the rubber of the wiper not designed to go one way? (for optimal cleaning).
And.... is the spray thingy also in the arm or is that in the base on which the arm is attached?
If its on the the arm then the spray will spray the bumper iso the glass???????? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Hi
It`s very easy
S3mon`s Skoda/Audi wiper arm mod
From Skoda you need
arm S6Y6 955 707 £10.88
cap S6Y6 955 435 £ 2.03

From Audi
arm A8E9 955 407 B £19.62
blade A8E9 955 425 B £ 5.70

The Skoda arm is a perfect fit but is to long
Take the Skoda arm and remove the mount ,this is the bit which bolts onto the tapered shaft on the glass, throw away the arm but keep the spring.
Do the same to the Audi arm but this time throw the mount and the spring but keep the arm.
You should have 3 parts;
1 Skoda mount
2 Skoda spring
3 Audi arm
Put them together and bolt them to the rear screen then clip the Skoda cap on you may need to file the cap slightly to fit.
A job well done
