Replace the standard Concert stereo

I've pulled out my old Concert (non-Bose) stereo and done some homework. I've bought a new faceplate, an amplified aeriel adapter, a wiring loom adapter and all is looking good. However, nothing comes on as there is no switched supply to the new stereo.

The Audi system appears to use a CAN-BUS (hi and low) pair of wires to tell the stereo the state of the ignition key and my new stereo doesn't have an input for this.

Can I buy a relay that will take the CAN-BUS wires and switch a permanently live feed on and off in a similar manner to the original system? Something like this for the aftermarket must exist, surely?

I know that Plan B is to find a switched cable on the ignition, but I'd much prefer to go down the CAN-BUS route if possible. Anyone already done this or know how to?

Yes, I've Googled it and either my Google skills aren't up to scratch or everyone just opts for Plan B.

    Ta. :) Martin

You can buy a CANBUS emulator but a total waste of money as they are £50-60 and don't even supply a proper accessory on feed i.e. the feed dies when you turn off the engine not when you pull the keys out. Just wire in a proper feed from the Radio S-Kont fuse in the fusebox. This is a proper feed that was originally used in the older non CANBUS A3's. IIRC it is fuse 10

Brilliant! Thanks muchly my good man!

I shall do this, next weekend. I assume that Audi have made it as difficult as possible to do, but I'm sure that I shall triumph eventually, I'm sure. :)

    See, nothing if optimistic... ;-)
