No way are they blocking ***!

205bhp using the mac calc, not bad.

Get those AITs down though. 84 degrees :sadlike:

Bit of an issue where the small SAI K&N wouldn't fit, so I used a one something else to filter it for now, but it's not a big deal as hopefully it'll come out on Sunday anyway..

Now if the logs are to be believed it's an 8 g/s increase :arco::arco::arco:

I now get induction roar from about 1500rpm to 2800, then downpipe and induction until about 3750, then the downpipe takes over... And I also have the very loud DV shut off noise back

Holy ****, 84 degree inlets? that's proper monster. Must be working over time to pull the estate back end along at a guess!

Ressy: Those brackets from Dave look top notch, but be prepared to have to change the bolts and space them up a tad. The A3 bumper isn't as deep as the S3 bumper, so the cooler will probably have to sit a tad higher.

As a measurement, I think I had exactly 7'' of core visable below the bottom of the crash bar on mine, that just fitted in at the bottom, and is only about 5mm away from hitting the bumper at the top also!

Cheeky fker! It's not an estate, it's a sportback!!

Don't worry mate, they are the cooler - bracket bolts.. I have some 70mm bolts coming for the mounting to the crash bar, so I should have a bit to play with to get heights just right..

Those measurements on the Welly cooler? I only have the smaller cooler remember.

Davidoff seems to be pretty good at them.

Need a bit of stretching etc to get it to fit, but it fitted in the end.

What map is it that you have mate? I've gone back to page 1 to take a look but it doesn't say anywhere!

On my st1 AUM with a downpipe and a cone filter, I used to average 175g/s ish in the summer, and 180-185 g/s in the winter, I did once see 190g/s from it too.

Bit more to come from the old girl yet :)

It's basically 173 Karl, which equates to a supposed 10bhp increase.. You're obsessed with the TIP now, got an S2000 filter to test and an fmic to fit before a TIP.

Back in the days when I was a poor, 18 year old yut with no idea this place even existed (instead of a poor 20 year old Yut) I had the previous TQS mapped by a man in a van type mapper. He had mapped various friends cars/vans etc and he did a pretty decent job on this one, as it's not all boost and no fuel as far as I can work out, it could have all just been turned up a bit more.

TIP isn't going to be here until late next week. I could have had a red one, but that'd look odd.

Removing evap and SAI tomorrow as it's being mapped out next week.

FMIC might be off due to the poor weather forecast for Sunday, unless anyone local has a garage etc free on Sunday :whistle2:

Use an asda underground carpark Chris, when I was a student, I was able to work on my car any time day or night, rain or shine :) Just load up all the tools in the back and drive to the lit underground carpark. Did an FMIC in there, and fitted an exhaust, as well as numerous wheel changes whilst it's raining outside :)

To be honest, I used to love it. Security guards hated it, but if you can get it up on stands and the wheels off before they catch you, then anything after that is just 'fixing it so I can get it out of the carpark mate'

It's the exposed pipes in the rain that worry me, but it's all been sorted. Bit of cold weather is not extreme at all!

That's proper pikey modding, makes Fred look like an acceptable citizen.

    Speak of the devil.

Yeah, just fitting this intercooler to help get the car out the carpark..Although true if I have the SMIC, it seems a bit more pikey then I can deal with..

You'll be haunting the local car parks even more then usual then :lmfao:

Today the nasty, noisy space invading SAI was removed. Bit of an epic job to be honest, and glad I decided not to have a go myself..

Nowhere near as simple as on the S3, as a coolant pipe needs moving to fit the blanking plate, meaning a loss of coolant and a few trips up and down the ramps.. Luckily Ben loves all these fiddly, pain in the ass jobs so he was more then happy to do it! I only decided to get this done late in the week, so wouldn't have got a blanking plate in time, but after a bit of fabricating that Ed from wheeler dealers would have been proud of, Ben had sorted one.

Got car all back together, went for drive and about 20 yards and got the dreaded 3 oil beeps. Backed the motor back to the garage and the sensor had broken. Nabbed one from a MK2 Golf and we were cooking on gas :) All this while Ben was half blind

Had a little play with a mate of Ben's S3 which has an IHI, mine is not to bad until around 70, then once the lag on his is over and done with he pulled a gap..

FMIC fitment tomorrow, remap:thursday, evap removal, tip and a mod that will remain a secret until it's done on Saturday

I take pics of basically everything, even the inane stuff, but the SAI removal isn't very exciting, and the Forged motorsport blank was such a win we kept it top secret.

    Buggy is mapping it mate.

    Piss off!

After a ridiculously long day yesterday, the intercooler is on, plumbed in and appears to be working fine.

    The day at a glance:

    Meet Jay.
Trip to McDonalds for double Bacon and Egg Mc Muffin.
Notice steam coming from the bay as we arrive back. The O ring and housing the looked pretty fooked when we took them off to remove the SAI were indeed dead, and car was both dripping coolant, squirting it towards the fans and sending steam out the bonnet that someone from stars in your eyes would have happily walked through.
As the car was cooling, the leak stopped so we cracked on.

I don't have many pics, but Jay has a load. As soon as I have them, I'll add them to the thread.

Got some grinding on the go and ended up with this:

Jay has pics of it mounted to the bar and the stages in between, the next pics I have are of the pipes in place:

This one was moved after to be at more of an angle

Had some faffing about shortening the turbo reducer as the bonnet wouldn't shut.

    As if by magic:

That's how we went out for a spin. After this point a few more pics were taken, but not as many as it was heading towards late afternoon and the bumper wasn't on, which is probably the worst part of the whole install to get done!

Quick stop for a Domino's and we were back to it. As it stands the car needs one side of the bumper clipping back in.

And a 90degree alloy with the DV and N75 nits on them to be dropped back to me. That's when I'll do some logging to see how the car stands.

Got to say a huge thanks to Jay, as I would not have been able to do this without him. Mainly because I had to use his 90degree pipe, he had done this before and he has OCD!

I did do some work, just not when I was taking pics..
