Any idea when you'll get it mapped? This will be a bloody quick car.
I don't need the car for the weekend of the 19th and 20th, so I am going to speak to Dan and see if it's convenient to leave it with him then.
If not, I'll sort out a day some time soon to get it done.
Surely Dan will need it for a bit longer?
Good news, mapping appears to be all sorted for the weekend of the 19th and 20th I am told the map will be a multimap with ALS and nls, so I can join the asbo car park club by spitting flames out the exhaust.
Went out for a blast against bens Beemer last night as well as a 270+ bhp mk3 golf. Up to very silly speeds (bens car hit the limiter) the a3 and the m3 are very close. Mine was only boosting about 23-24 psi and bens was dyno'd at nearly 320bhp the other day so for a lardy 5door Quattro with a printer and some Xmas presents in the back I'm pretty happy. The beemer is deceptively fast though, doesn't make a lot of noise and the power is so linear. As for the golf, he didn't really stand much of a chance.
did use rather a lot of fuel though, about £10 in 20 miles.
Think the car is leaking a bit of water from somewhere so might have a look at that, time permitting, today.
I know what you mean about the BMW. My mate at Unit18 had an e46 m3 and although didn't feel fast because it was so smooth you'd only have to look at the rate of the needle sweeping across the dial to see how quick it was.
Sounds like cracking fun It'd be a mistake to think the A3 Q is heavier than the M3 though, those things are seriously heavy!
Was good fun. Now just need the limiter removed on my m3 so Reesy can watch me disappear into the distance while he cries, masturbates and repeats.

So no real progress for a while.
Car is still leaking coolant at a fair rate. Have some O-rings to hopefully get it sorted but unfortunately that won't be until Thursday evening at the earliest.
Drove to and from work in the snow on Friday and the semi slick rear tyres meant the back end was a bit lively in the very icey bends, but very controllable and still more tractable then a lot of cars when it comes to hills etc.
Mapping that was meant to happen obviously didn't due to the weather so that'll have to be re arranged for another time.
It's still very fast, as the bloke in the Porsche Boxster S found out on Thursday.
As some will know due to a previous post, for a laugh we fitted a milltek resonator box to my car as a backbox:
On boost it sounds wicked, off boost not so much.
It's loud, there is no other way to describe it really. A slight touch of the throttle on the overrun and it pops and bangs for ages. It is a section 59 waiting to happen so we'll get some videos on Monday and then the other one will go back on. This one will be kept for fun though..
coolant leak appears to be fixed as well...

i can't take the credit for the exhaust but the reestek is pretty champ on boost. One of the switches for having it like this and with a backbox for general driving would be good..

Hoping to grab a video of it tomorrow evening, need to sort out the misfire it has first. It was sort of noticeable with the other exhaust, but with this one it's very noticeable.

The scorpion backbox is fixed

Removed the baffling and chopped about 50% of it away:
Ben then swapped the grinder for the welder and the rebuild began:

The removed old lady pubes were replaced and the epic job of rewelding it began.
Amazingly it came out a lot better then we both imagined and I took it for a drive. Sounds good, not too loud in idle, champ on boost and a nice pop and crackle on the overrun. Much better then the horrible rattle backbox I started the day with..

it looks like Frankenstein's monster, luckily it can't be seen though.
it was rattling like **** on idle and at certain revs as the baffling was loose. Meant it sounded awful.
misfire appears to be sorted, plugs were changed again and not had issues since, which is nice
This exhaust is wicked, managed to make 2 people jump and completely ruin someones phone call just all in the space of about 40 seconds yesterday.. Immature, but funny all the same!
Reading through some recent posts of Tuffty's thread, I noticed it mentioned that VVT can be aid spool on larger turbo's.. I currently don't have VVT on mine, but the VVT unit is still laying around.

Met up with Jay on Wednesday night as he came down this way. On the way to meeting the EPC light came on the car whilst I was giving it the beans. I pulled over, turned the car off and back on and it was fine in general driving. Scanned with VCDS and it was a throttle body related fault.
Took jay out in the car and it happened again, off and back on and it was fine. Drove sensibly back and to the garage yesterday, a quick look at the wiring showed that one of the cables to the throttle body had snapped... Ben soldered the wire back in place and all has been well since.
Cracking work there! I know I only got a small go in the denim beast (1st gear & 2nd) before it cut out with the epic light. It pulled very well shame I didn't get to see more power. Next time. At least it's fixed so great work on fixing it Ben!
Hopefully the next time you see it it'll have more like the power it should have. Glad yours is healthy again now as well mate.
In other news, I have just sorted a 007p service kit with the revised piston as mine is a bit tired..
Did you call Forge directly for this? And do you mind saying how much it cost for the service kit + revised piston - I'm going to need to get one in at the end of the month and probably get Ben to sort this out for me and get it on the motor
