Sorry for the spam, I shouldn't cruise forums after a skin full on a Saturday night.

    Loud exhaust looks loud, btw!

Don't worry Dan, I'll sort something out with you! Not sure when though, especially as the joys of xmas are fast upon us!

I have been reliably informed it's not too loud, but we'll see as it beds in.

    Back to it now..

If the clamps I need arrive today I'm hoping that I can take this for a drive this evening which will be nice. Will also be the first chance I get to see the exhaust work that was done and hear the car.

    Quite excited.

Was wondering this morning why you`ve been quiet. Thought you might have finished the car and it`d be too fast and you`d stacked it killing yourself and Ben lol. Nice of me i know :p

I can see why you might have come to this conclusion, it's perfectly plausible. If I went in a prang up though, I'd want to make the papers at least.

Drove the car last night for the first time with the new setup.

It's running about 10psi with a slight creep towards 12/13 in the higher revs. It's quite strange in the way it drives though. It doesn't feel particularly fast until you look at the speedo. It was raining and their was also a lot of standing water, still no wheelspin I might add :moa: , but it was quite underwhelming really. With a tweak of the actuator it could easily be used like this every day though.

It also sounds really good, sounds more appropriate for the power it has without being too boomy. Need to do a few miles on it before I know exactly how it'll sound, but overall I'm happy with the exhaust.

Going to check everything over today before it is released back into my (lack of) care and going to put on a more boosty map I have got to see if I can get some epic g/s, as we all love epic g/s.

It also starts to pull comfortably in the higher gears from about 2.5k, so lag isn't really an issue either :arco:

reason it creeps boost is that the current map has a fixed load throughout the rpm range, in order to maintain the load it needs to increase boost as rpm's rise. Once the map starts boosting around or over 21psi then the map will have to changed from load related to boost related and run it via the n75 instead, as the me7 only reads to 22.5psi it has no control above this so it doesn't know if you have 25 or 35 psi, so if you want o run say 27psi then you can only do via n75 dc... Unfortunately I can't do this by email! So you come to me or you live with what you have!

I hope it didn't come accross like I was moaning! I was merely typing up exactly how the car felt to drive, the first map was fine apart from the idling issue as all I asked was for a low boost map just so it would run.

Thanks Karl. i will at some point but annoyingly I definitely need the car at least 1 day a week so it limits when I could hand the car over to Dan.

After 22 days, the car is back by my house!

Make yourself comfortable. It's quite a long read.

It's not 100% healthy unfortunately, but I'll get round to that in a minute.

2 exhaust clamps have been fitted.

Jubilee clips fitted to the TIP and that's sorted.

The oil leak that was causing a bit of an issue was located. It was the oil feed restrictor, despite being up very tight it was leaking a fair amount. Re tightened it, went to the petrol station and it was still leaking. A washer or two was added and it seems to have solved the issue.

As the car was not making quite the 1 bar at actuator pressure, the actuator was wound out a tiny bit. Seemed to have made a bit of a difference and the car goes pretty well. Got back to mine and loaded the boosty map on, idle was instantly better. Opened it up on the bypass and the needle on the boost gauge shot up to and past the stop on the boost gauge (30psi) so i quickly shut off..

As it had done once on the k04, the hose linked to brakes popped off so as we pulled into the petrol station to wind the actuator down and sort the boost leak, the car had very little in the way of brakes. Not ideal. Ben has said that a one way valve can be put in place so it should stop it from happening again in the future..

Actuator slackened right off, we set off again. Car was still making late 20's psi so I'll be speaking to Dan about lowering the load. I have rods and the turbo could probably take 30psi as it pulled that all the way to the redline, but it isn't really necessary. I'll post the vcds logs that were done earlier, but it involved maxing out the MAF :superman:

Decided to take a couple of drive by videos. Car sounds epic, especially when it comes on boost, also makes large pops on overrun which is pretty cool. Left without getting a video though as the exhaust is making a horrible noise. Hoping that it's just the gasket for the blanking plate that is on the manifold, failing that it is possibly the clamp that joins the decat to the downpipe..

When trying to see if the car still drove O.K despite the noise, the same hose popped off again which is *** annoying. Popped back on yet again, N75 unplugged and I drove the car home. Drives fine, just sounds horrible. Over a 12 miles journey with the odd burst of boost but generally keeping with traffic, it averaged (supposedly) 37mpg, and before anyone says it: the dis is calibrated as it was running very early 20's when boosting and not boosting.

Tuesday night got the car apart again.

Took the gasket off, cleaned up the manifold and blanking plate and refitted it bareback, using only sealant to see if it would hold for a day until the gaskets arrived. It didn't. On a test run, I lost boost due to the servo pipe popping off again, lost power and revs as the car was running rich and went back to owning a car that sounds like a tractor/canal boat.

Today I took a 1/2 day to get the car sorted. Post man arrived 2 hours later then normal so work didnt start on the car until about 2.30. Got the gasket on the car, started it up and........no change at all. Arse.

Blanking plate was taken off and I put it in the vice and noticed it wasn't flat, at all. What a piece of ****.

A new one is being machined using steel twice as thick and will be ready for the morning. Hoping to get the car sorted before I go off to work, and actually being able to champ it and see how it drives.

    Arse :(

is this the blanking plate to cover over the manifolds take off for an external gate?

If all else fails, just bolt on an eBay external gate and leave it closed :p or make up a screamer pipe :p

Yes it is, I think it was the 30psi that fooked the ****ty gasket and blanking plate. All sorted now.

    No need, problem solved.

As nice as that would be, I think the screamer pipe is too anti social!

Nice to meet you to, glad the car was sorted. Next time we meet their, hopefully the car will still be running alright and I'll take you for a blast in it.

Another morning, another day without the car.

Ben fitted the new blanking plate and the *** thing was still blowing. Back off again and Ben said he could still feel old gasket on the mani, and that would be causing the issue. After farting about with a blade and some rough sandpaper, Ben had the wound clean and the new blanking plate was fitted. Great success but car was smoking and running like a pig, mostly because it had no tip and it'd been started a few times with the External gate take off exposed.

Cleared the 10 fault codes whilst Ben put the car back together and it was off for a test run with his business partner.

    HOLY ****ING ****!!

Took Ben to the petrol station and even he was impressed by how well it goes, laughing at the stupid places that cars can be overtaken, and he *** hates the car!

The car goes alright... For all those that I sent the shi*ty video to, it doesn't really do the car justice as it was only part throttle. Once high enough in the revs to put my foot flat to the floor without seeing 30+ psi on the boost gauge, it seems take off like a firework. As for 6th gear, even at 4k and 3/4 throttle it still goes round past 30psi all the way to the redline, so I need to do some logging for Dan and then hopefully sort a day with him in the new year for mapping.

Done about 400 miles today and no problems, goes epicly, sounds epic, brakes are still epicly **** and it returned 35 to the gallon on the motorway.

Video of the car with the blowing mani:

2nd, 3rd, 4th and some of 5th. In the damp. When it goes into 3rd, someone decided to pull out in front of me so 3rd gear is a bit of a waste in this one..

very witty, I do have a home hub.

its an Owen developments hybrid. A 28 housing with some form of 30 internals.

What is the recommended plug gap for bkr7's??

Does it really make much difference with the plug gap? I've always just bunged in the plugs at whatever they come gapped as standard and I've never had an issue.

Done about 800 miles on the big turbo set up and it's pretty nice to drive. Hoping to head down to get the car to Dan's so it can be mapped properly, but even as it stands it's not bad. Only boosting to about 19psi at the moment, but it's still pretty rapid, gets a nice pop on the overrun and is lovely to drive off boost.

Once mapped properly the car will go on the Rollers to see what sort of figures it's producing.
