Hi all,
I've been experiencing the red steering wheel light appearing in my instrument cluster intermittently in my 04 2.0tdi a3 for the past few weeks until last Friday it has appeared again and hasn't disappeared again. There is always 3 beeps as well on start up and no PAS at all. I'm unsure what could be the problem with it as sometimes this randomly clears itself and PAS is restored
any help/advice would be very welcome

have you recently done anything to the car? Eg. removed the steering wheel or battery?

Could just need the steering wheel aligned to default settings, through VCDS.

the battery did run flat about 5 weeks ago, the same weekend the light illuminated. I had the battery tested and it was past it so I bought and fitted a new battery, could this have something to do with the problem them?
Thinking back all was fine with the car until the battery ran flat!
thanks

Possibility. Try and find someone local to you with VCDS that can calibrate it.

Procedure is Basic Setting - Sensor for steering angle (G85)
