    Hello to everybody.
Like most of you i will introduce my car to. I got that car from 2 years ago already and its my second S3 (one is fo sure to - it wont be last one). I am big vag fan, because all my cars are from vag group (i also have corrado and passat). Corrado is still work in progres, passat i use when i travel with whole family (i got 3 kids, one dog and angry wife ) otherwise my wife use passat to drive on her work. Audi is car which i use most the time, for work and all other ways i need to do. I just love that car, for money i gave for that car i couldnt get more. Ok enaugh talking lets get to pics.

Firs one pic of my ex S3 on day when he left me ...

After 24 hours i bought other S3. I know that car and owner since he came from audi dealer and i also did some work on it (i am mechanic but i work as car painter last 20 years), so i decide to take it (that was one good decision in my life) and thats how he look infront my home garage...

Mr.Murphy was on his way again and cross my road when i drive home with red S3, and from front of a moving car flew in a small stone and hit my windshield, results ...[IMG]

yes it really is strange i admit, only my intention was to buy something else, but the seller has already sold that car, so I ended up back on the S3 although a little bit older (1 year), but because in my country is not really a lot S3 8l so i didnt have much choice

nope rear will stay from pre facelift because i like them more

Now this red S3 looks bloody awesome, well done. Where did you get the black headlights from?

I need a new headlight lense for my facelift S3, as the lense is so cloudy but the other side (drivers side) looks new, so im only going to change the one side. Ive found an after market make called 'Depo' and they are under £50 delivered to my door. Beats £700 for a new OEM Xenon unit from audi and nearly £200 for a OEM halogen. Its so frustrating they dont just sell the lenses by themselves.

thx mate i bought that headlight on ebay from germany and its from "Depo"

Lets forget now on badges guys, i will explaine why i decide to do that when the time is right (dont forget this pics are two years old)

... the next step was to change the radio antenna.I bought a second-hand, but original ...

... antenna was in silver color, so I painted in red ...

    ... remove the original ...

... and install the new (old) ...

... it was also necessary to replace the signal amplifier and a connector, and it works as a new

... and then came winter and snow ...

... but we dont care, right ...

i have done a lot of things, changes, upgrades, but lets get step by step

Winter is a time to renew and change the outlook of wheels, so i take the "stars" off
... front wheels will stay same as befor ...

... the rear wheels will be drawn differently, the "star" will be screwed on from the inner side ...

... the difference is 10mm and will fit perfect ...

... the first was polishing ... front one ...

    ... rear one ...

... both together ... the difference is barely noticeable ...

... some Saturday I played a bit with painting on my work place ...

... with the gold color is always a problem, I've tried quite a few different and to compare them with each other ...

... in the end I decide for the brightest, until I gave clearcoat on them ...

... in the paint chamber they still looked pretty good, as long as i take them out (really it was cloudy, no sun)

    thx mates ...

... so i build them together, front one ...

    ... rear one ...

    ... both together ...

... whole set of wheels ...

... then i put them on car, rear ET is perfect just like i wish so i did not need spacers ...

... and on sun they looks much more brighter ...

... then it was necessary to restor the caps ...

    ... i bought stickers on e bay ...

... and glue them on caps. Caps were too damaged to be able to restore, so I painted them in same color as the stars
    [IMG]

... and i glue other stickers on wheel and thats how they look even today after 2 years ...

    to s3Easty:
I am still not satisfied. I was looking shiny golden color as for example chrome just not in silver but gold color shade such as trompeta. There is some of them but all of them gets darker after clearcoat is applied so I'm still searching.

I got rid of the rear wiper and replace it with a glass stopper ...

    ... blocked water hose ...

... and it fixes with the rest of the installation in order not to cause some unpleasant sounds while driving ...

... glue is used minimally ...

... after two hours, I have the car washed and checked if it is well-sealed ...

    ... yes it is :icon_thumright:

I think I'm going to copy that antenna and the rear wiper cover. It really does clean up the back of the car nicely.

After a while I decided to prepare my car for remap which was needed to change a few things such as intercooler, cold air intake, pulleys, fuel nozzle, gas pump, exhaust, .....

First I started with FMIC. FMIC offer is really great, prices for the kits is that you fall down. This piece of aluminum can not be worth it, so I decided to create the kit by myself. I have tools and knowledge I saved a little money-I said, and started to collect parts. On ebay i bought IC ...

...then I bought a silicone tube and few clamps ...

... I started first by removing the front bumper ...

... and removing of the front beams ...

... measured and cut what was needed ...

... holder for horn cut off ...

... from the cut part of beams i did adjustable holder - the stroke of 2 cm and screwed on the beams and IC ...

... still got enaugh space between climate cooler and IC ...

... it should look something like this ...

... It was especially important for me to keep the beams on the car in one piece and any installation that is attached to it ...

... then the bumper back up to see how it will be ...

... very closely but will be ...

... however it was necessary to slightly trim this plastic on the part of the hose from the IC's ...

... i wanted to keep the middle frame for the looks because without it, it looks like a cheap china stuff but I did not want to have a net in front of IC so it had to be removed ...

... rosette around the fog lights remains and one column of net all else it was necessary to remove because of silicon hose so i cut more and sanded little bit ...

    ... the excess material ...

    ... composed ...

... and again the bumper down, clamp on the tube and measure what and how much more I need a stainless steel tube to mount IC and connect all the air system ...

... bumper back again and at the end it looked like this ...

Because I had all the dimensions of how much and what kind of stuff I need to complete the project fmic, next day I was bought the rest of the material.

to Sam_ - hehe, well that will certainly not happen i mean not in that car but maybe who know in some other projects

    to JudderMan - thx mate

to Dan-Jnr - I had two reasons why blue, first: they had only blue; secondly: I wanted blue to match the other tubes :sm4:

to crispynz1 - yep and thats why they will stay on

... so the next day when i bought the rest of material back bumper off ...

... this measurement and assembly is more time-consuming than anyone imagined. When i already thought that everything will be fine and i put the bumper back on then i saw that there is not going to be okay.....and again .... and again ....

... after much attempts I finally managed to produce tubes for further processing ...

... outside it was already dark when I finished. Welding was done quickly but i spend much more time for grinding of welds ...

... and because it was running out of time (and patience), I just painted the welds with zinc spray to prevent rusting (this was only a temporary solution) ...

Someday i noticed water marks under the car (G12 under the gearbox) and traces of G12 on the top of gearbox .... yep it was flange on the engine head so i bought a new by near audi dealer ...

... its easy to replace that flange ...

... then I noticed the damaged tube
    [IMG]

All the tubes were still original and very damaged because of time so I decided to buy a new this time silicone tubes from RAMAIR

In between, when I was waiting for stuff from e bay I tried something - ignition coils from the 2.0 TFSI engine. They say that they do not spell it as much as the standard of the old 1.8 engine. Ok I said to myself I'll change. Of course I needed adapters that can fixed ignition coils ...
    ... so I needed adapters ...

... and of course the ignition coils ...

... then I ran into problem. The problem is that through the coils in the third and the fourth cylinder is a holder which is screwed together with the coils. This coils of the 2.0 TFSI engine are slightly higher and reach further out (a few mm) just enough that the holder resting on the coils does not fit the adapters.

... clearance from the holder to the adapters is somewhere around 6 mm ...

... thats why it was necessary to make spacers. I was not ready for it so I did made spacers from material that I had on hand. It was good for a temporary solution so i made 5 of them ...

... which is a fit nice in the adapters ...

... five of them has to be done because the holder bolted to the five positions which hold the adapters in same time on the third and fourth cylinder and half second...

... it was solved the current problem ...

... the following problem has been the holder of the protective plastic which is now increased by a little less than the length of the spacers. Holder cant get lower because then it was not enough space for all the tubes below (yes i know i could make bypass and relocate valve but i didnt) so I left it as it is and tought to raise other holder of protective plastic ...

... second holder of protective plastic looks like this. This is not a problem to raise but I had hoped it will not need to because it was just a little flexible plastic and should not cause any problems if the difference between holders is somewhere around 5-7 mm (estimated from eye) ...

... I was right but it was necessary to make another spacer for other holder to which they are bonded also a tube. Was too low and could not be screwed a few things so I have made another one ...

... as I predict the plastic engine cover was flexible enough so i did not have to lift the holder on the left. When the plastic cover is up you can not see that is a bit elevated. Here is what they look like ignition coils with adapters ...

when I changed the ignition coils I noticed that the oil is arround spark plugs on the second and third cylinder. I took off the valve cover ...

... damn it was a lot of a dirt there below ...

... I spent more time cleaning than just change the gasket ...

... gasket it just fell apart ...

... I have checked the spark plug they were only good for the trash ...

N249 bypass, give it a search and it will clean up the top of your engine and coils

i bought new spark plugs and replace them ...

... but replacement ignition coils from 2.0 TFSI engine has proven to be the most bigest mistake. The engine was worked quiet and smooth but only under low speed. I should mention that I lost much of the max speed the car did not go over 210 km/h. At this speed It was felt like somebody pulling me back and also ignition coils was overheated.

...then I tried the second option - ignition coils from audi A8 ...

oh yeah baby ... difference is obvious final speed again such as it shold be. No more overheated ignition coils. And where was the problem? Its simple and logical; ignition coils from 2.0 TFSI engine working on spark plugs with a small gap (0,47) 1.8 engine (in my case is engine APY) spark plugs have bigger gap (o,80) thats why ignition coils from TFSI overheated maybe i should replace spark plugs to but i didnt so i dont know. This red ignition coils working on spark plugs gap between 0,80 to 1,60 and they work really well on PFRQ6 spark plugs.

and btw all these replacement ignition coils is completely unnecessary if you have ignition coils hittachi (with white color on top) most tunners will tell you that they are one of the best ignition coils ever made for 1.8 engines ;)

Loving the thread and the amount of detail you go into along with very clear pictures.

Not sure why you had issues with the 2.0 TFSI coil packs

I've got them in my APY engine with OEM plastic spacers with NKG BKR7E coppers and .8mm gap IIRC, at least it's all sorted now

to S3 Paul - dont worry mate i got a lot of pics just dont have much time to stick them
    to MIGGZ - :beerchug:

to Goubo1 - red did not cause any problems

    to Phil-1 - i will

to kwistof - I'm not sure ether why i had these issues but I wasnt the only one with it. Some others had same problems

... I had this silicone intake from last s3 but I did not have time to change there so i did here ...

... it was necessary to replace this tube because original was damaged it was already quite soft due to oil vapor ...

... down there is damn tight. I should teach my childrens how to replaced this tube because they have much smaller hands. After i remove the shifters mechanism I can do it too. The only problem was the clamp wich holding intake tube on turbo charger ...

... in principle, should be the same as the original, but there is one difference which is not even negligible. On turbine housing is some "channel" which fit the edge from the inner side of original intake tube ...

... there is no edge on silicone tube ...

... so I used a little wider clamps which can be stronger bolt. Good is that the vacuum is in the tube and not a pressure ...

... someone has changed diverter with metal ...

... which is a good to be cleaned and lubricate from time to time. And because I just had a down I exhibited and greased diverter ...

    ... over and out ...

... next day package came ...

...ordered were two meters in length and internal diameter 3,4,5 and 8 mm. The seller made a mistake and sent me the red color hose 8mm which in the end turned out that i did not even need ... lol ... anyway the seller apollogized to me for mistake and sent the blue tube at his own expense...

... old tubes - some were really in a very miserable condition but the ravages of time its done, some of them were already bartered some ware still in good condition but I decided for the sake of peace to change them all ...

... after half hour of work changing was over ...

... this is the remainder about 50-60cm from two meters in length ...

    ... to be continued ...
