    Hello!

Recently moved to Shibden.Halifax ad just wondering if anyone can suggest some decent garages/specialists for if/when I need one?

I will be replacing the DMF and clutch in the next month ish and would be great to know a reasonably priced garage that will do a good job.
Also I'll be needing 4 18" tyres in the next week or two so any info on a good place for tyres and do you think 225 40 18 will be about right?

    Thanks peeps.

I dont know any garages in Halifax but changing clutch and DMF should cost around £200/£250 labour, don't get ripped off :D

    Thanks guys.

Will a 215 40 18 tyre be ok or will it look daft? Think the alloys are either 7" or 7.5" wide. Thanks

if they're OEM they should be 7.5J, and then 225/40R18 are probably the best. if you go down to 215 then the rolling radius changes and your speedo reading will be out

this can be fixed with VAG-COM but just something to be aware of

This place does my work and they are good and competitive. Timing belt, water pump etc plus longlife service £530 all in (IVC quoted £605). Intercooler pressure pipe replaced £68 all in. Only genuine VAG parts used.

Just off Roundhay Road in Leeds

I would recommend FAR Servicing at Wyke, genuine decent bloke. Other than that Chris Umpleby off Thornton Road Bradford is also one to think about. I wouldn't go to the dealers around here unless you have to as they are all owned by the same group.

Oh Dear, I grew up in Halifax and made for London as soon as I realised what a toilet it is!
Anyway you live in the better area if Town with a dry ski slope behind you and a giant park infront of you...... For your Tryes go to Pellon Tyres they are a blackcircles.com fitting centre so you can get internet prices fitted locally.

Re the garage volksworks in Leeds are OK and Hares (or Hare) in Illingworth are ok, id take it as a pintch of salt though iv not used them in years.

Ps "the works" in Sowerby Bridge is a real ale pub in an old wood works and worth a shot.
PPs if you need body work my nephew has a bodyshop I can point you in the direction of.
PPPs Partco Autoparts Ltd Halifax, Unit 1 Queens Road Industrial Estate for your parts.

    Alex

    All the best

Thaks everyone and cheers Alex for the local info. Yeah I've seen the ski slope. I'm living here for a few months or so with my bro. I may stay up this way or move back to Lincoln at some point. My bro uses Pellon tyres actually so that may be worth a shot.

    Thanks again.
