My 2001 S3's rear mirror hasnt been working correctly for a while. This didnt bother me to much at first but now its gone all wierd,
There are random light patchs (un tinted) and the rest is dimmed,
Its getting worse and in my opinion is dangerous,
    Has anybody had this happen?
Any tips on how best to fix it?
Whats involved in removing the mirror?
Can i just fit the glass from a non auto dimmer car?
    Any help would be great,

    P.S
i did try to search but i didnt turn much up on the 8L cars.

Mine has gone 50/50 on my dimmer mirror....been like it for a good couple of years tbh.

Think Audi wanted around £140 for a new one IIRC....it's on my to do list but not in any rush as I can still drive about with it- just have to lower or heighten the seat ever so slightly depending no if it's dark or no :)

    Scarp the above price....

    Maybe a tad more :-\

Mine has just failed within the last few weeks. The top quarter of the mirror has gone lighter and you can see it has leaked. I looked into buying a new one but at the moment Its still useable.

Theres a few on ebay every now and again. I wonder if its possible to use another auto dim mirror from another VAG range to avoid the audi premium?

Mine is just dim all the time, has been since I bought the car. I checked the wiring and that seems ok, guessing something's just failed.

I also had it leak down and drip onto my dash... to remove it it was easy and i managed to find a replacement oem second hand part on ebay for 90 squid ... they seem to be very expensive for what they are
