have just bought a a4t sport t reg
nice car but there was a knocking under the passenger side.
got the top wishbone replaced and sorted the knocking.
there seems to be rear movement when going over bumps or pot holes.
like the rear of the car moves outwards.
    weird.
    any ideas.
    thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Has everything been checked after the replacement, after a few miles things can move loose and just need a little bit more of a tighten up.

Not sure what the set up is at the rear of your car but it sounds like rear wishbone bushes, does it have rear wishbones? A friend had this many years ago on an escort, over a bump you could feel the back end kinda step out.

    Hope this helps

Mine was doing that a while ago, especially over manhole covers and other parts of the road that were more 'slippery' than the rest.

My problem was the alignment. Got it properly aligned, and it runs like a champ now. If you do get it aligned, make sure the place has good four-wheel alignment equipment, lots of shops can't even fully do the alignment on audi's but they try anyway without telling you.

Personally, it took two tries, then I finally went to the stealer (arghh). They fixed it though. Since then I found another shop that has a good laser alignment rack that does it cheaper.

    Audi18t,

I had the same problem with my 98 TDi.

Put on a 2nd hand strut and the problem went away.

    Regards,
    Jim

it must be a standard kit as ive seen three others on the road. smooth round back bumper skirts have little triangle piece on the end of it.
and an extra spoiler on the front bumper.. in kingfisher blue looks wicked.

i took it to my garage and offered your suggestions.
they put it on the ramp and found out that all the dampers are knacked.
so im replacing them with standard struts and lowered spings around 35mm.
is this a good idea as later im putting on 17" alloys?

i was about to say that i had the same problem as you! when i was going round corners and hit a bump it would skit out. It was my rear shock absorber (or damper).
