Rear heated screen switch doesn't work all the time

As the title suggests my rear heated screen doesn't work all the time. The light comes on for 2-3 seconds then goes off. When this happens you cannot hear the relay. But when it does stay on you can hear the relay. Could be a coincidence but it only seems to stop working when cold. Can anybody shed some light on this please?

Also manual headlight dimming control doesn't work have checked everything bar putting a new switch in. And vcds doesn't show anything. Can you help with this too?

Try removing the relay, stick 12v across it & see if it works each time, it may have built up crap on the contacts, so clean these of with a dremel or wire brush & test.

Oddly enough I thought about testing the relay this morning so I shall do that.

Yes it is the manual adjuster toggle switch.
