OK - got the ABS warning light on and the ESP (Electronic Stability) warning lights on all the time.

Using Vagcom its telling me the following :

00287 ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) 27 - 00 Implausible Signal.

So questions are :

1) When VAGCOM talks about Left or Right Sensors is that left or right from the drivers seating position or looking at the car from the front (duh ! I know daft question...) i.e. nearside or offside

2) Is it easy to change the rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor yourself - if so are there any instructions on this forum

Left/Right is as you sit in the car i.e offside = right, nearside = left

Just one cap screw holding the sensor in place, undo and slide the sensor from the hub and undo the connector, refitting is the reverse as they say. (and you should be able to reach it without jacking it up)

Might be worth getting it out and giving it a clean up (just wipe it over with wd40) they can get mud/dirt build up and not pick up a constant signal, if its still the same after cleaning get a genuine audi one as the cheapo ones from gsf/eurocarparts soon fail.....

I have just had a similar problem to this after having the ABS electronic control module changed. Have you had this recently replaced? My fault was a knocking a knocking when the ABS kicked in under braking. This was after picking up the car from Audi specialist garage after having module replaced. We took car for a spin whilst plugged into laptop and it reported that rear offside was wheel was turning slower than other wheels (implausible in itself) according to ABS sensor which was servicable. Turned out to be a code input should have been programmed in when the new ABS electronic control module was fitted.

Hope this has been of use.

No, its just occurred...I have not had the ABS module replaced.

Getting it sorted out by Volkservice in Blackpool......along with my front anti roll bar C-Links..thats £200 up in smoke :))
