Re synch central locking

Well stuck a new battery in my fob and followed the instructions in the manual- hold one key down whilst opening/closing the door manually.- should take @ 1-2 sec for it to synch..

Trouble is still doesnt work ie remote doesnt lock /unlock I have tried it a few times one of which whist holding the unlock part of the key down wound down my windows. ... but after tyring to to lock car nothing happened.

Has anyone got any ideas of what might be wrong - the reason why I changed the battery was that the remote was becoming more and more intermitant as to when it would operate.

I thought it had to be synced with the key in the ignition and turned to position one then carry out the procedure with the fob.
i may be wrong, someone on here will talk you through it if im wrong.
give it a go anyway.

yes ya right,ya need 2 keys, 1 in the ignition,1 in the door
