standing by my car when i heard a loud sound, like the sound of a cable/metal snapping, now when driving and going over speedbumps/small potholes i get a rattling sound from passenger side REAR ,checked underneath(just had a quick look) nothing i can see.

Could it be something underneath the plastic covers?
Anyone else had similar problem?

A4 TDI B6 :wtf:

Umm, could be handbrake cable, but you would know about that....

handbrake feels and works fine, exhaust is ok aswell

I had a very annoying rattle also from the rear passenger side. Quite noticeable when driving over speed humps/potholes, even when driving at motorway speeds.

For ages i couldnt work it out. Then one day when i was shutting the boot i heard a similar rattle from the outside the car. After a little investigation it turned out that the top half of the bumper (just under the rear light cluster) was sitting loose on the fixings and was rattling.

Anyway to sort it I just stuck a bit of rubber from the old wipers between the screw and the body work and not heard anything since.

I hope you sort yours out pretty soon too, i know how annoying a little rattle can be.. at one point i was prepared to pay anything to get it sorted!!
