Hi was looking at a redline mag today and read an article about ths quickshifts. The test was carried out on an audi tt and the person testing the car did say he didnt test the car on full revs as he said it wont do any good for the gearbox to rev it to the max and change gears. Now thats the best thing I love to do,rev the nuts out of it and change the gear lol.

Here's the link on ebay :

and another one :

Anyone tried and tested these without any problems as I am afraid my gearbox will soon go pop with it.

2.0 tdi 140pd manual gearbox bdw.

cheers

I've got a Compbrake quick shift kit for both side to side and front to back on my 2.0 TDi, I fitted it in January and so far I haven't had any problems. I think as long as your smooth theres no reason why you should have any issues. One of my friends also had one on his Mk4 R32 for well over a year and he never said he had any problems with it.

I don't understand what that article is going on about, don't most people change up at the redline?

that's what I was thinking mate, whats the point of having a quick shift and a fast car only to drive like a nun.

What do you mean with (Compbrake quick shift kit for both side to side and front to back ) ?Isint it only one of those *brackets ) thats needed ?

The bracket your looking at shortens the front to back throw of the gear lever, you can also get a kit that shortens the side to side throw.

Not sure if you've seen this quickshift fitting guide from Forge Motorsport, it will help to show you what I'm talking about.:o.k:

Ok now I understand mate. Will you recommend the compbrake rather then forge motorsport one ?

Think I forgot to add the link to the Forge guide!! Here it is:

The only reason I got the compbrake one is because it was the cheapest one I found. The only thing is I did have to modify it slightly as the part arrowed in the picture was too thick. This meant it touched the bracket for side to side movement and could not travel far enough to engage a gear!! I also had to machine a sleeve for the side to side bracket as the pin that goes through the mount on the gearbox was too thin. I guess you get what you pay for!!
