how much oil is needed on a change - including filter and what sort of sump bolt does it have (torx / spline hex etc) ? 2001 S3 AMK - should the sump bolt (or washer) be changed also ?

Should be 4.5 litres with a filter change.

Sump bolt is a standard hex 19mm. When you ask for a sump washer you get the bolt as well attached. I always change both.

Not off the top of me head. Just give VAG a call, its only about £1.50 for the bolt and washer.

You don't 'need' one if you make sure you heat it up so it comes out without stripping the threads. I'd still have one as a backup though...

If the threads get stripped then then the previous mechanic has been an idiot and either tightened it too much or cross threaded it!

Sump nut shouldn't be a prob at all.

Indeed you can anneal the copper washer, but why bother as they are so cheap, unless of course its a for "green" reasons.
