Hi, quick question.
if an APY motor is 210bhp and a APX is 225, where does the extra 15bhp come from? the BAM and others are 225 but they have electronic VVT which would explain their extra power. is it a different map or are the cams different or something? if its the map i don't see why the S3's werent 225bhp from the start if Audi feel the engine is safe to do so (within their strict safety factors/emission regs)

It's all in the mapping, the VVT has no bearing on power, it's merely there to help emissions during the warm up stage of the engine. APYs had an SAI system which was dropped and replaced with VVT basically. Why did the S3 only have 210 you may ask? to stop it stealing sales from the TT. Once the TT got the V6 model with 250ps, the S3 got it's extra 15bhp inline with TT225 models.
