hi all

just a quick question, i dont know if anybody has tried this, xenon head lamps come with a power pack, im guessing this is the same as a h.i.d powerpack?

would the h.i.d powerpack "ballast" do the same job? could even use the bulbs that come with the h.i.d kit, and i do know about the various problems these cause, but there is a kit which doesnt cause the wiper motor to blow out.

thanks all

I believe they are the same thing, just different terminologies thats all.

But dont quote me on it if anything blows up :undwech:

hi im using hid on a 05 plate a3 bought in uk 50w hid although the 35w ones are available £81 delivered from ebay

they have digital ballast and a canbus intefernce module built in

the ballasts are that small that they fit inside the back of the headlamps

i did however have to change the coding in the bordznet controller
to xenon headlamps with halogen main beam .

as the passenger side bulb kept flickering and turning off before

no problems at all with wiper motor burning out (touchwood)

yeah ive heard about the new type of hid they have brought out.. this thing im getting at is, if i had a bare xenon headlamp shell.. do you think i could get away with it with hid bulbs and the hid ballast? i guess its going to just be a trail and error run lol, coding.. this my the part that needs doing first. thanks so far guys

sure you could why not ??

you could retro fit hid ballasts and bulbs then just recode the module xenon and hid are one and the same in audis terms
