Question about speedo dials / illumination...

Yup, they red are on mine too, which is a late 2003 model.

I'm just sure I've seen one with plain non-lit hands before... :search:

They do look nice in white though, wonder if it's a custom job?

Oh!

Have just noticed that link I posted is of a member's car on here, called monkeytrousers - that'll solve that then! :sm4:

If you're reading this, what's the deal with those white hands?

S3's - Needles are white, rest is red. Early cars had a blue tinge to the needles and the black part went up 5mm along the needles. This illumination color scheme is the S car trademark.

Some RS cars have orange needles, I've not noticed any continuity with this though.

'Normal' Audi's up to MY99 had all red, then from this point non S/RS cars had white letters.

I think mine are red - it's a 2000 facelift S3 but I've only had it just over a week and not driven it at night yet

Also - Does anyone know if the dash is supoposed to be lit up all the time? - I'm pretty sure that on my old A3 the lights only came on when you turned on the headlights but in the S3 there on as soon as i start the car

yep, facelift s3's had the white needles.

I have aY reg 2001 and it has red illumination with white needles (absolutely love the look of this btw)
