Some good news today,

My CQ BCM2 module has arrived to replace my low spec one and allow me to code all the channels for the LED rear lights.

Obviously it will have a hissy fit when I fit it and will throw up component protection but I know very little about CP apart from that it has to be removed by am Audi Dealer (in my case it will be Cardiff Audi unless they say no).

Will I still be able to lock/unlock the car? Will the car start and run? What are the actual restrictions applied when CP is in place?

Thanks

Audi Specialists and people with access to the GeKo system can remove CP as well. I couldn't tell you exactly what would happen in your particular case but usually the modules have limited functionality and of course will show errors and probably flag up a light as well.
@NHN is the person who would be able to give you more of an idea.

Thanks for the information. As long as the car is driveable to the dealership then that's fine. I can fit it, code it and then take it down to them. Sounds too easy lol

I think the settings will be locked until you get the CP removed

OK, that was something I was expecting but was hoping wasn't a result.

If I were to swap to the CQ module and the case was that it was totally locked down, would there be any nasty side effects if I swapped back to my original BCM2 module?

In reply to this last post from Audigit... changing back to the original bcm2 unit will have no affect but trying to upgrade to the higher spec BCM2 does practically disable the car and it won’t even start up, lock or unlock the car.

I’m currently attempting to retrofit Dynamic rear lights off an S-line as I have the TDI Ultra. I’ve retrofitted the VC and upgraded the MMI unit and screen. Had the CP removed and all works fine except for my satnav and the fuel gauge, I expect the satnav will require a new SVM code and the fuel gauge won’t work as my VC was from an S4 petrol and my car is a diesel. If anyone knows anyone that can re calibrate my VC to work on my diesel tank, i’d appreciate it. Going back to the Dynamic lights conversion, I purchased the retro fit wiring loom from kufatec and although not too difficult to follow they don’t mention that the BCM units are coded and will need to be recoded before anything will work. My next project will be to fit s-line/S4 LED front headlights which will of course require the highline BCM1 Unit.....
