Q5 Q5 2.0 TDI fuel filter change

Hi, I am about to change the fuel filter on my 2011 2.0TDI but have read that VCDS diagnostics equipment may be required to bleed system. Is this this true or will it self bleed ? and is there a possibility that high pressure pump could be damaged if fuel system is not bleed ? any help would be very useful

Just prime the fuel pump with VCDS after the new filter has been fitted, I'm sure you're aware that it's under the car on the drivers side.
