    Hi guys,

A friend of mine has the Pyle PLA4140 hooked up to an infinity sub and infinity components and it great. I am considering purchasing this amplifier. Here is a link for a description of the amplifier

    http://www.pyleaudio.com/itemdetail.asp?brand=pyle&cat1=Car%20Audio&cat2=Amplifiers&model=PLA4140

The only thing putting me off buying it is the fact that the hz settings for the high pass are very strange. They go from 80hz all the way up to 2.5k hz. Having posted earlier i am probably going to be looking at setting it to 80hz. The only thing i can't understand is who on earth would want to set it to 2.5k hz. From what i have heard only cheap amplifiers have such settings. What do you guys think?

i dont see anything anywhere thats says r.m.s behind the stated outputs
which tells me its bullshit power probably makes about 50-60 wrms x 4
with about 250 - 300 wrms if you bridge together the rear channels

all in a cheap amplifier and nothing special
there are lots of amplifiers out there which are a lot better than this

Agree with Nath, even the manual is only quoting peak power figures which ultimately means its a cheapshit amp appealing only to the Saxo crowd.

I have found the RMS figures for that amplifier and you guys are right. I am shocked as usually the RMS figures tend to be half of what the maximum output would be. In this case they are:

    35w x 4 @ 2 ohms.
    55w x 4 @ 4 ohms.

However i have found a good JBL amplifier which you guys should take a look at. It will run 4 speakers and a subwoofer! And the power output seems good.

    And this 4 channel amp:

    Very good prices too.

That JBL will struggle to run a sub in 5 channel mode unless you have a dual voice coil sub and you can run 107wrms into each VC. It'll be OK in trimode though.
As already stated the Alpine F450 is a better bet, it has 200wrms for the sub and as it's an Alpine this figure will be at least 35% greater than that on the birth certificate, so around 270wrms.

You can pick these up on ebay for the same price as the JBL.

ive actually met the guy as he isnt too far away from me and he sold a friend of mine some diamond components
the only thing im worried about now is that the components were fakes
and hes passed them off as cosha

ill check the serial number on my friends components and see if its genuine
