Hi all, new on here so be nice  I have issues with my s3..

Under full throttle i get nothing, nothing... then boom power in one big lump. Typically at around 3.5k up to 5k where the power suddenly appears. Car runs fairly smoothly otherwise.

    Coil pack gone?

Another problem while I'm here is that the car isn't getting up to temperature and sitting at 70/80C when driving, i assume this is the thermostat sticking open?

    Cheers

To my knowledge the car has no mods other than a induction kit and its a 2000 plate so its the earlier engine i assume.

Could the power issue be related back to thermostat?

If the temp is not at 80 or above the ECU will reign in the power to a degree and you will still be on cold start cycle so running rich... scan for fault codes, fix the temperature issue and post up the results of the scan

    Got the vag codes scanned...

    16514 02 sensor bank 1 P0130 intermittant

Im new to VAG cars, but from what I've read its never as simple as just replacing the 02 sensor...

    Any advice?

So the lambda sensors faulty (possibly) Clear the code and go for a drive. If it returns then replace it.

Ok so new thermostat now and 02 sensor replaced.. temperature issue all fixed and running a good bit better, no fault codes.

However, I still seen to get an issue with inconsistant power... which makes me think I may have a boost leak sonewhere. From searching on here I have found that logging the AFM at 3k rpm should result in a reading of 10g/s ... I got 8...

Should I invest in a DIY boost leak tester? Ive looked at a few threads on it but need advised on what to buy

no oil = increased friction on metallic parts which will reduce power untill the turbo boosts & although power will return it will strain the engine & various other components such as timing belts + evevnually risk of engine seizure

Got an oil change 2 weeks ago but cheers anyway!

I'm thinking im going to buy one of these DIY boost leak testers, Pressure test system intercooler kkk G60 G40 eaton | eBay

My plan is to connect after the charge pipe (the horizontal one on left hand side?) and then block off at the inlet manifold pipe. Which should allow me to use a normal pump as there wont be as much pressure being lost due to it being a closed circuit round the smic's? Will this kit fit for the two i mentioned... it has 50, 60 and 70mm fittings.

    Cheers
