Private plate on car but no documents

My girlfriend bought a car privately and it came with a private plate on. The owner said the plate was staying on etc but shouldn't we have gotten some kind of documents for the plate? Like to say we own the plate now or something?

My girlfriend says she wants to sell the plate and buy her own.

Any advice/comments.

Hi,
if the private plate is the registration on the registration document then it belongs to your Girlfriend with the car.

If this is so and your Girlfriend wants to sell the plate I would suggest you put it on a retention certificate, this way it will be much easier to sell.

Yeah, its on all the cars documents so I guess thats fine.

I got the same thing with my.
Private plate but its on all the docs.
Never had any issues apart from some auto factors don't recognise my plate.

You should be fine if its on all docs.
